i know why like sup, have said it before. saved me a operation and my back is sweet...sort off. now i can prone and love it still love my sup. yet what gets you stoked about it
riding my 12,6 in the surf getting 500m + rides , away from the crowds as many waves as you like , awesome fun
Being an OFB & newbie to surfing, catching a wave............wow (you all probably know this) but its sort of indescribable bliss
and that no bugger can ring me when I sup....[:o)
Similar to shireSUp, you can escape the world on the water. No phone calls, no work, no one nagging, not even traffic noise.
Its nice to just switch off, focus on the water and get a few hours too yourself. Flat water paddling or surfing.
Being in the lineup at my fav' place and watching others enjoying the ride NO MATTER what they ride.
NOT being dropped in on.....especially by other SUPr's that think its ok cause it must be their turn by now
this is one of many .
Guss hasnt rode a wave for 15 years 2 hip replacements .
A couple of months on flat water
I watched guss catch his first wave he done a couple of turns gold
STOKED
when a fellow supper recues your board after a leggy snap and the board went with the foam all the way at an outer reef .... cheers mate
Getting my daughter into SUPing. We partook of the Starboard demo arvo at Narrabeen Lagoon (thanks Ian) and had fun. Tried 4 different boards.
Its great to do stuff with your kids, especially something you love.
Paddling into big reef waves that prone guys can't
Getting tons of speed on tiny waves
Downwinding with my mates in 30 knots that feels like you are surfing for 10 km
Paddling with my family
Surfing with my youngest
Being back in the ocean after nearly 5 years of being over it
Since I'm new to this, but have kayaked for some time, I was stoked to be standing up on the water - completely different perspective of your environment.
Oh, and catching that first (small) wave in Byron bay
Regards,
Darren
What gets me stoked is when I slowly and ever so gently peel the cover down to reveal my beautiful deliciously exquisit little girl lying there naked on the ground before me begging me to use her in order to satisfy my insasiable desire.
(I am talking about my board..."Honest")
Surfing/Sup gives you back some moments of sanity when the rest of the world tries to constantly steal them!! I enjoy those moments!
Water time.... especially when the northerlies have backed off, southerly kicks in with 3ft + waves at my home break with my local sup/mal/ shortboard crew...
seeing longboarders and sups in the same forum, same wave and being happy...my wife and i surf both so it kinda helps at home too
I just love the feeling after a good hour flat water paddle when you throw the Sup on the roof racks and hit play to the sounds of Pink Floyd. The feeling like you have earnt those beers waiting in the spare fridge at home. No mobile phones and 3 kids fighting is a bonus. Peace with the world.
Did I mention my PSH 10'10 Hull Paddler I am picking up next week (my 1st Sup for the surf and my next surf will be my 1st since G-Land circa 95.) Just a touch excited.
