I have a new Creatures leggie that's called the Longboard Pro 10' and seems pretty heavy duty.
Check out this site.. store.southpacificsurfshop.com/leashes.htm
Someone here said that Creatures have a new Supa Heavy duty SUP leash coming but I've not seen it yet.

The creatures Outer Reef leggy is the one you were thinking of DJ and it's in the country now. 9mm thick in 10' and 12' designed for really big waves or really big boards like SUP's.
Longboard Pro was super strong, this one should be even tougher.

Thanks Sam.
I'll be looking out for that one because there is nothing worse than breaking a leggie and knowing there's rocks along the shoreline and your new board is headed towards them..

I have snapped 4 in the last 6 months not cheap at 40 bucks a pop. Have the creatures big wave one now seems good not much stretch to begin with pretty harsh on the leg seems to soften up as it gets longer. Mine started 10ft long now 12ft.
Outer reef sounds the go though.
Creatures leggie I HAVE ONE NEARLY A YEAR OLD HAS BEEN PUT TO THE TEST , IT HAS TWO KNOTS IN IT AND STILL HASN,T SNAPPED.
Not that my legrope has ever snapped - I haven't been out in conditions where I think that's possible, however, I would have thought it a design feature if the legrope did snap at a certain point?
Wouldn't it be better the legrope snapped than the board bounces back on you with force, or worse sucks you somewhere you don't want to go, or your board or your body breaks before the legrope does.
I guess my question is what makes a good legrope?
My advice,
Go longer than you think you need. The rebound of a 10kg SUP is a danger to us all. I copped a few stitches on the chops with my 9'6 using a 8 foot leggy. Go longer lengths like 10 foot.
I have snapped 2 of the Creatures longboard pros in 12 months. The strain on my leg was not that great on either occasion. I think a stronger leash like the Outer Reef is necessary for SUP boards.
the creatures outer reef sounds the go...
are these available in perth??
are they available as an ankle strap....can't do the knee thing,
I hope that Creatures bring out the Outer Reef leggie with an ankle strap.
I have a knee strap and I have a bung knee.
It doesnt help when a 10kg board goes over the falls and pulls the sh1t outta my knee
ok sam if there in the country ,why haven't they been sent to wetspot yet , ive been waiting . also tried 9'6 naish today in **** conditions ,and had a hard time balancing on the thing , but was good on a wave . i don't know if i got enough skill for it yet or if it would have been better in better conditions .
How long is the C4 surf leach?
Interesting racing leach..What's with the thin black cord...and how long is it?
I wonder if you even need the rail-saver if it's for flat water or down-winding.

I think the swivels are the weak point. It is really easy to retie a broken leggie, that is if the break is at an end. I have snapped my three several times each. Just keep retying them. I''ll post the knot if you want?

Here you go DJ, its called a sheet bend. I have left the image full size for on screen closeups. Just treat the striped rope as the legrope and make shure you leave at least 40mm of leggie as the tail of the bend, the leggie tends to slip till the bend is really tight. Also give the rope in shot 3 another wrap around the legie for more security, although with my latest leggie join I have not done that as the rope I used was not long enough.
Rod
Thanks for that..I wondered how you'd tie a broken leggie together..I was thinking reef knot.
While we're talkin' knots...What type of knot is recommended for tieing the leggie to the board..(rail saver to the leach plug)..?
DJ
it looks very similar to a reef knot,, apart from the very last stage....
could be finerky (word?) with leg rope material.
Yeah, the leggie is a bit of a problem wanting to unbend, just use a bit of tape to keep the leggie closed.
You use a fishermans knot for the leash plug. Just form a loop thru the leash pin making sure that the loop does not overlap the end of the board, if it does you will get dings from the rope. The only thing to hang over the end of the board is the rail saver, thats why it called a rail saver. You have no idea how many rail /tail dings I have fixed over the years because of this problem. I have just got back from a small surf and have been studying the chicken wing problem? Ill start a new post on it.

I just snapped 2 leggies in 2 sessions , the second time it hapened I managed to swim to the board before it got washed in. In both cases the leggie broke at the swivel so I just tied a bowline through the ankle strap and it held for the rest of the session in 6 to 8 foot surf .
Rob
the rest of the session in 6 to 8 foot surf .

Hi Rob
Where did you surf to get six to eight feet waves cause the alley is two feet today and pushing four feet yesterday ?? Damn did I miss out on something ??
Hey Piros, a bowline is the quick fix for continuing the surf session, unless you have some rope in the car. I have found that because of the stiffness and slippery ness and stretchiness of leggies that bowlines eventually come undone. It is a knot that is mean't to be easily broken open.

Saturday on the Bombie off the seaway was Epic , took my boat out and anchored out to sea with a couple of mates all on sups one 12 footer and two 11'6 C'4's the take offs were huge , it felt like you were a super ball bouncing down a set of stairs. A very heavy 2 hour session we are still sore from it , but I'll never forget our last wave my mate and I took off on a huge set side by side on the C4's he got launched over the front of his board and I made the free fall with his board tumbling behind my legs , I managed to surf away clear but got engulfed by the monster foam ball. So the leggies copped a big hiding that day.... no wonder it broke.
Rod my repair was at sea , and the leggie snapped early in the peice but it did hang on for the rest of the session , when I checked it the next day it was still tight so I left it and surfed another session as is but I have replaced now , it has to pop soon
