It's funny cause the last two years, the sups draw a bigger crowd then any other event! Which I thought would be a plus for the organisers.

No one's bagging em, people have asked for feedback why they are not well attended.

Combination of being expensive and no repercharges and the fact they are usually spread over several days.

Plus as far as I can tell from the forums on here and the general vibe in the surf they seem to resent SUP more than SBs.

PS: what ever size board you like, SUP's actually turn so it doesn't matter too much

Can somebody tell me how much it costs to enter Sup contests. Of course, prices the comps charge will vary but I am just curious. I find most people who whinge about the cost are just tightar5es.
The Blast series is about $30.

Judging by other threads in here A LOT.

Goatman just some of the comments starting from the Noosa comp over the past couple years, comments like the organizers couldn't give us the time of day,for one.
I've been to a few comps, both tack on's and sup run, from my view the best were the
ones run by sup people for sup people.

Winter classic is a small club run event that I have been really impressed with for the last two seasons. Organisers do a great job but there are a few nasty old Mal guys that think they own the ocean hence no sup inclusion this year.

Sup surf board restrictions are only an issue for the complainers that don't practice enough. Why restrict board sizes when the good guys spend hours an hours working hard to be able to stand on them.

Out of respect to longboarders,if sup's are included they should be 9 foot + imo.

What do you mean by "out of respect to long boarders"?

Out of respect to stand up paddle boarders there should be no restrictions.

This is a Mal comp and they have a retro division. They don't have restrictions on their boards so why should sup?

Now I fixed your red up for ya

Well if your tagging along in a long running longboard comp, you would get better support from the fat old grumpy longboarders who knows some mite join in
As you know 9+ in LB comps,at least both would have one thing in common

I think its a good thing the Winter classic has dropped us!
I organized the SUP division last year and it was bloody hard work pleasing everybody.
The vibe wasn't nice and I feel they weren't happy with me trying to promote the sup's in a longboard comp.
The Winter classic comp is close to my heart and I'll have to pull out the longboard to enter this year

Good....for all those who are whinging its now time to get sup organized. I openly said I was willing to ride whatever size sup is required to compete.

If the longboarder's want to go back to the start and ride 10 footers then people will just have to pump up and ride them. If the sup community can organise sup only events that cater for all sizes then the people who want to compete, pay up, get there and have a go.

I think this subject has been flogged to death. As I said a few months ago I can understand longboarding moving away from sup.

Logging seems to be getting bigger and there's alot of youth riding the boards.

Still would love to hear what direction the bigger name sup company's have for the future of the sport.

I hope it does get support its in its 3rd year
the main reason I put it on is to have some FUN and get suping
Scotts Head has 11km of beach so we can find a good wave some where plus the bop race and downwind race caravan park on the beach ,kiddys corner proteced from southerly winds Im sure you will enjoy getting back to the basics of enjoying the ocean a few cold beers at the surfclub what more do we need and only $30 entry fee and free expression session but Im welcome to any offers if dogie goatie piros or Rob want to put on surf comp as I know the dwinder racers arnt for every one and dont worry about council approval because its sorted just call me or turn up

HI Goaty, yeah mate Ill be there. Just had heaps on....joined the married, house (home loan) club LOL.

I just stopped also mainly because of the cost. That's the main reason why Im following post like these. I'd love to get the cost's down. It's clear things like prize money etc aint going to be high. My last event was last yrs supa nsw comp. But had to bail cause of mrs getting food poisoning. be good to see everyone again. Ill be there though with some extra baggage......kid LOL.

oh, it's getting a bit heated in here.

if a mal comp thinks a 10' class might be a good idea and a few of their crew might have a go at it and some sups surfers might be willing to have a bit of fun - let them.

last thing we want to see rabid shorter short sup surfers being marched at gun point to surf a heat on a longer board- the poor bastards
