I'm not good enough was it
But the Big one needs to go in take sh-t load of other peoples boards and post them like Chrispy said.
Interesting Rodger Hall at Surfline was doing the same over here , think he did one with changable flex tails
OK I am new here and don't know sweet f.a about surfboards but do about other composite contruction and windsurf boards.
I guess this thread was started as you are worried a bit about if a long board is made with same glass layup as say
a 7' or 8' board it may snap easier? And if glassed heavier to be strong enough it may be a bit heavy?
Are really long boards usually glassed heavier?
If so, would it not be better to use a stringer that is stronger for same weight (or less)?
Then you can glass the board the same as any other.
I am thinking Nomex honeycomb with a layer of carbon each side (I have done that for other projects and it is stiff as hell) - but that would be really pricey.
Alternatively divinycell and carbon laminate.
Both would be about 5mm thick and stiffer than ply, with same or less weight.
^^^^mate thats a bit technical for most of us, but i agree with your idea. you sound like you didnt make that up which helped my decision i would like to hear what cmc or the like would say
Your board is looking pretty good Spazz. It looks like its going to be clear ? That deck patch and stringer look good. Keep the pics coming.
BigSpazz is about to be elected KING of the Pass, how good will this thing go in small Pass waves,he will need a packed lunch and sports drink before beaching it in front of The Beach Hotel
Thanks BigSpaz - maybe its my eyes decieving me as I thought it looked like a lot bigger board in the pics.
ha i can get my arm around it easily enough, i dont think i will be catching waves at the pass and walking back up the beach to the point. i think i will have to paddle back out now, at-least i will be there in 2-3 strokes
