We're awaiting a 6m West Swell down here in Torquay. Truth be known, there will be a 6m Swell hitting places like the West Coast of King Island. We'll get 4m here roughly. Should be 2.5 to 4.0m faces on the best sets...
Wind will be from the West also, so Winki will be the pick. My bet is it will be a rough and ready swell, not groomed lines... but the wrapping effect around Cape Otway should help groom it up a fraction...
I'll be checking the surf camera early to get a gauge on swell size, swell lines, etc... Then board selection is easy. I always pack 2 guns on the big days... The 8'0 & the 8'6. Or the 8'6 and the 9'0. I would still like to add in a 9'6 gun.
But tomorrow might be a fizzer... Probable selection will be the McTavish Rincon 68 7'10 Step Up Gun, and the 8'0 Fun Gun. Not pulling out the true guns...
Simondo,
Just looked at the charts for down your way
The wind looks pretty strong, Dam I miss those swells though, Brings back memories surfing places like Inside Posso's, Lorne point and Kennet when the wind looks like that.
But after 15 years I decided I HATE putting on Steamers and getting Ice cream heads
or having your feet so numb that it doesn't hurt to run across some S#!tY gravel carpark
So jealous
Hope you tuck into a few
Yes, Lorne Point could be interesting.... But those West Swells usually mean nice set waves, but not much to pick from in between....
We will wait and see.... Photos, I promise!
Hoax swell Mac! Nah, we'll get some solid stuff tomorrow. But my bet is it will be a bit Junky. Protected spots like Lorne Point might be the go.

^ Twelve Apostle coast is already down graded to 5-6m. That was listed as 7's earlier.
Quite good surf today. Very clean all day, line up moderately well. Decent sized waves, especially the sets. The rogue sets kept catching everyone off guard...
Sorry no photos. I snapped this one on the way back from Mum's in Geelong. Grassy fields along Horseshoe Bend Road. Plenty of feed in the paddocks for the stock... It's really cool farming land around Torquay, and 5 minutes later you're at the big Sandstone headlands, with giant waves crashing (when the swell is up).
Matteo cooking round 2 on the BBQ.
