All this talk and footage of old longboards made me dig this classic out from under my house. Had it for about 25 years and prior to kids use to have it mounted on the wall. Rode it a couple of times in the 1990s and struggled to turn the big girl so I stuck to the short board. I will have to take it out from another spin.

It is a Gull Custom and based on the logo and research from the net, I date it at about 1958/9? The diamentions (off a tape measure as there are no markings) are 9'6" x 21 3/4" x 3 1/8" and weighs a ton. I believe it to be made in Brisbane.

The below link helped me with some of this history:

For those of you into old boards How much do you reckon a 1967 Burford single fin in good condition , would be worth roughly . Thinking around the 600 ?

Tried to upload a pic but can't do it on the iPad

One to hang on the wall .

Speaking of old boards (in action) check out the "blue safari" from 1964 on you tube.
They've got the whole movie on there.
Lotsa wipeouts showing the warts and all of the good old days.

Everyone rode these down here in the 70s, couple of retro models here, I wouldn't mind having one of these in the quiver

Wandered into Classic malibu at Nooosa on Wed and they have a 60's Dale in very nice condition on consignment for $695.
Looked like a real bargain that won't last long.
I'm sure they could snap a few pics for anyone interested.

2013, these are remakes of the old design, i bought one of these new in about 1974-75 stashed it in the sand dunes after a surf one day to come back the next day and no board, there were a few hundred made mostly 6'6" & clear finish so no need to hide it you had knocked one off, not all bad though, my old man had a good insurance policy so i got a new custom without having to put my hand in my pocket.
