Surf pumping here today , but 3 killer whales hanging around .

Should I go or should I stay out

Wifey says stay out . Not sure if that means she needs me to stay at work for more spending money or she doesn't want me to get eaten

dunno about man eaters, dont think they are. I watched a doco on these last night and they're notorious for snapping and doing, well, anything. if they dont brain fart you should be ok :)

Tassiedevil, you guys wear full steamers down there don't you?
Full steamers are black.
a person in a black steamer looks sorta like a seal.
Killer whales eat seals.
Stay out of the water I say!

They have a huge brain from what I have heard so there will be no mistaken identity, only thing is they like to 'play' with things for fun, like playing with seals throwing them to each other, when the seal stops kicking and is dead they leave it, Masochists!

Haha that one is funny

Killer whales have never attacked and killed a human in the wild. Lock them up in a small tank and make them work for their food and maybe you should stay out of there way

Is that a seal near 'the man's leg? I think we are looking at a fabulous piece of camera trickery...
Even so, I wouldn't be clapping my hands or balancing a ball on my nose if I saw the orcas in the water...

Orcas are super intelligent creatures I have seen them in NZ with Surfers... My cousin was once in the water with one.... He was sitting there on his longboard and the orca came right up to him and looked him straight in the eye.... They are Friggen huge and Friggen scary... Other locals in that area say that they also use their sonar on you and you can feel them around (I dont know if that is true).

As for the video it looks pretty fake...

But they look bigger than you think....

They were just sizing you up for next time.
Now they have got your scent they will lie in wait.
And sometime when your not looking they will sneak up on you and...........................

Hope the surf was worthwhile.

Hope you have a good trip - we tried to go down this year at that time but it backfired with work commitments and this summer is out so it looks like it will not happen until 2015 sadly.....

Glad you survived TD - we saw them in NZ when I was a grom many yrs a go at a place called Stringay Bay - a few hrs south of TB's. We had been out for a surf and had just come in when we saw them - there were still a few blokes in the water and they paddled in very very quickly. !!! They were absolutely massive - glad I was not in the water as I would have poohed my pants big time.

that video is a really really good fake .

ET been wearing 3/2 with booties last few weeks , except for a couple of cold bursts , February is the best time of the year so will get away easily with a 3/2 . Pup is trying to scare you . I am probably not the best to reveal secret spots to you as more then 10 minutes drive is too far ( Tasmanian attitude ) but am happy to show you the northwest . Some of the other blokes like riverrider and 2MT tend to get around the south and east coasts a bit more
