Tough times ? I love a good red in winter (and summer as well but more in winter)....a good cab sav from the Coonawarra or Marg River is enough to get me excited but you can not beat a good old fashioned pinot from Central Otago.
In terms of $15 you have me there but I am a big fan of this one which you can get for under $20 at Doctor Dans - and which hasa slighy bizzare price strategy - it appears it more expense when you buy 6 of them instead of 1 ....... go figure
Got a couple of dozen (left... Used to be about 5-6) of a very special wine. On good years you could pay as little as $8.25 a bottle (in 4 dozen lots) and on bad years up to $10 a bottle (in dozen lots).
What is it... Its a secret and you have to be IN THE KNOW to get hold of it. Best under $20 shiraz (Heathcote) I've tasted in a long time.
Daneli, I'll keep an eye out for that Limestone Coast Red. In fact I will actively hunt it down today!
Which town in the Vineyard closest to? I know it's in the general region of Robe, South Aus.
My Mum had a box of 4 or 5 year old Bordeaux reds delivered to my house, she told me take a couple of bottles out.
There's something about the purity and tradition of wine making over there that makes even the cheap 4 or 5 Euro bottles as good as a 30 or $40 bottle of Aussie or NZ wine. The cheap under $15 seems to be full of sulphites or preservatives or whatever and make the wine kind of bitter.
Call me a snob but for $15 a bottle in a box from Bordeaux there's not too much comparison in the drinkability.

Yep, same the whole way around Europe last year every meal had a standard bottle of red with it, not high end but nice and cheap 3 or 4 Euro and was so nice. I was stoked when these arrived.
Here's a bottle of 2007 Bordeaux were saving for a special occasion, This one given to me as a gift from our French distributor. Not sure of the value but they assured me to save it for something good, even for 5 or 6 years.
This is seriously good bang for your buck www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_355439/borsao-selecci-n-grenache-blend
Not as fat and ripe as a lot of oz wines, more mid weight with a savoury herbal/meaty flavour profile. Something this good from oz would cost $20+++
What we have been drinking lately I usually have half a bottle before I can bring myself to read one of Lacey's posts if I was going to critique it I would describe it as tasting like squashed grapes cant taste pepper, cherry, oak, blackberry just nice red wine
Yeah I grabbed two doz a coupla weeks back Vanders and there's well under a doz in the cellar now dangerously drinkable.
Try decanting one for half a day before you knock it off, tis pretty serious booze for your buck.
