I enjoy most sports but Union I struggle to be honest.

Football/Soccer drama theatre love it and the fan numbers are up already this year.

Looking at what i saw on telly of the game , the AB's set plays are pure class and almost pre-wired into their systems regardless of the situation in a match and also regardless of who is the coach.
I admit I like watching them play anytime , awesome setup ,,,, the Wallabies are schoolboys in comparison sadly

true pup, mac union is a good game to play, more tactics then league and can be and was brutal with the old school rucking which has pretty much been outlawed, not good to watch when it a wrestle fest unless you have played the game- then those things are kinda interesting.

cracking games where both sides run the ball and attack is what the powers to be need to make happen.

with defences so much better in the modern era we may see the demise of 15 men down to 13 some time in the future

Australia had better hurry up and find another Nathan Sharpe too - this Queensland fella is unreal in his heart size , gives everything and then some , really hope the rest of them take a leaf out of Sharpey's book , we'd be 20% better overnight
But also the skill level basics are god-awful , just cringeworthy ,,,, a Hi-Po academy for the kids is a necessity now , or just accept never overcoming a great team like the AB's

I went to a bogan school in a bogan hood having said that my second row partner for many years went on to play for the Steelers and QLD origin and signed a big deal in the UK now works in the GC waist department.

lacey you have hit the nail on the head there for alot of sports...you can train to be fast, strong etc...yet a sporting mind cannot be trained,it is all about instinct, and having that mind that those brilliant athletes do not

The problem with Union these days is that the defending team is only committing 2 or 3 to the ruck most of the time - the rest all quickly disappear into the defensive line to go again. The attacking team has 4 or 5 in the ruck and so is immediately a few bodies short. That is why there is so much emphasis on trying to get the ball back quickly and go again, to stretch the defence and catch them out. It makes it hard to play like that though when the opposition is deliberately slowing the ball down at every opportunity. Thats what causes the issues Mac. So then they resort to a kicking game to try and get field position and hope to force a defensive error - by putting more people in the ruck for the first phase or 2. So what do ya do? Hopefully you are good enough to still be fast and create the gaps and to do that you need to be playing fast attacking rugby and hope the opponents defence can not hold up for 80 mins and that you do not drop the ball at key points as the pressure is mounting on the opposition. Sadly at the w/e we dropped a few balls and your defence was great - however your sportsmanship left a sour taste - I hope they make an example of Higginbotham. Its about time - Richie gets back-handed every game - its a friggen disgrace!!! That was a red card offence. As was his oter one a few minutes earlier!

ps: still a little sore after dropping a bundle on the boys - backed the truck up at half time at $1.65 thinking it would be a sure thing - sadly not!

How good was it when Richie went for the points after the final whistle had gone from deep inside our half after defending for about 30 phases!! Great finish from both sides I thought.

yes Ted , that knee was atrocious sportsmanship shameful stuff really.

Lace I think you're probably right mate - geez the basics have dropped off compared to the AB's who seem clinical to me

Jeepers. I did not see that until now.....wow what a flogging.

The 68-48 thrashing was the highest score ever achieved by Australia in 74 years of international competition with New Zealand and the winning margin their biggest since 2000.

Shows how crap the news is down here in NSW that I did not even hear about. Thats a massive result. There would and will be blood.

Just read the thread on the drug taking in SUP - classic. I thought that was about to fire up good and proper. People should be a bit careful what they say on-line in those situations....could get really ugly really quickly - I do like to read it though

yeah, it's not a good look, but it's probably a pay back for richie grabbing his pills in a earlier ruck or something- just saying there is most likely more too it.
