This is a very good watch. This is quite recent, because that T-Shirt has only been around for maybe 4 months... (I have one!)

PS - Lacey, I was doing some video research on your Lopez 14 footer, down-winder... Found Lopez talking about bob McTavish at Sunset Beach, "going vertical", and then found this one...

I posted this with a little bit of reluctance, because I know a few of you are 'perhaps bordering on being sick of most/some things McTavish'....

I would love to see Lopez, Goddard, Greg Brown, Wayne Lynch, Dick Van Straalen, etc in similar discussions!

Nice informative video Simondo.....does this mean that Bob discourages people buying boards off him unless they come to Byron for a visit?

ps I really like the t-shirt ! Does Mac have one?

edit: re his volume comments - I agree with some of them but also disagree with some of his points....yes lots of things add to the buoyancy / floatation argument re width, length, concaves, materials, rocker etc but I think that volume is the number one dominating factor and the other items add complexity but their influence as a proportion is significantly less. e.g. a 25 litre board for a 75-80 kg person (roughly what the pros & Legion ride) can have a load of refinements but will not help to float someone who is 85-90kg comfortably. Sure it may help float someone who is 80-85 a bit better but not much more. Where as a board that was 35 or 40 litres would be significantly more beneficial for the surfer even if the rocker was not as friendly.

Flame suit on Can not believe I just call some bloke called Bob out online But I think you know what I mean.

i used to work on weight times .35. like at 75 kg, 26.25 was still comfy but getting down there

just watched the vid now. i enjoyed it. i didn't see it as a mct pitch i'm with ted on volume. cmc argues the volume above water means zip, so does dale and alain. but i don't agree- its not my experience

look at those starby aces. those things have won so many times and have massive volume.

simondo, the gl has 320 odd lts and i wouldn't change it

Yeah, it's a good video.

Volume: well you need a tiny bit above water, such at the nose/entry zone!

PS - if you ever get the chance to go somewhere like The Maldives with Bob, you won't forget it, for ever! You wont regret it either!

And: I like that T-Shirt enough, that I also have a white one!
(most of us can easily see the surfboard, and fishing lures, but my son recognized that there is a penguin in the image... sort of looks like a penguin anyway! - squint, and you might see it! )

I enjoyed that don't know what to think about the volume throws my cruiser theory out the window

Saw a McTavish Vuelo SLX by GSI today. I was impressed! It was a demo, so I'll take it for a test drive within the next 2 weeks, and I'll give it a video review too. So look out!

It is obviously a Vee Double Concave "pop" board that Bob speaks of. Tail was Rounded-Pin, but a final pin, not final round... Sporty 9'1 x 22's x high 2's. I like the look of it! If I ever lost my EvoII, I would probably give one of these a try, in some lovely custom tints! Maybe even sunset tints.
