What with 2 daughters and a wife that thinks she's a teenager, I'm forced to endure quite a lot of popular culture that I would normally not give two hoots about.
The wife however did grow up in a dance studio in London's Forest Gate and her parents did make a decent living from teaching dance in the 50s & 60s before they came to Australia for her fathers health, he was about 30 years older than her mother.
The poor old bugger never did cope all that well with Australia and what they considers to be a cultural wasteland.
Apart from the dancing they also did a bit of movie work as dance extras, I only remember one that they were in in 1957 called "The Prince & the Show Girl" with Marilyn Monroe but that's only because my youngest daughter was for a time obsessed with the Monroe.
The only things the mother in law remembers about the filming was how boring it was because the dumb blonde was so stupid, it took her all day to just get one line right, and the other thing she remembers was seeing her rest between takes on a flat board that she first stood on and then had it angled down because she was sewn into her dresses and could not bend.
