So there's a MamJam at Curly on Saturday (tomorrow) with the likes of Australian and World longboard title holders. There's even a "toothpick" event
Think it starts around 7am, should be some solid waves for them.
The toothpick event should be interesting. Its pumping right now and the weekend is supposed to get bigger.
Extremely interesting, Curly is a really exposed beach, especially in a south swell.
I'm up here at Woopi at the mo and there's a lot of stuff that's out of control.
Luckily A was surfable but still an outrageously long paddle to the furthest break.
I ended up staying on the inside break.
3xzoom on my camera just will not cut it for a place like that.
The break is about 400 mts out.
And yes, it can hold up a big swell, but it's sometimes fullish.
Which makes it perfect for mals.
I'll try to get one from the headland if it's still holding up tomorrow.
If you were standing in that location today or yesterday, you'd probably still only get a pic of inside reform.
when it works, the 2 main breaks are further out and to the right by about 50 and 100mts
cC, I went back there a short time ago, the swell had dropped right off and the surface conditions had deteriorated so rather than go in, I grabbed the camera and walked along the rocks to the point.
Took a long time for anyone to get something, but I finally got the one below.
He's not long taken off from the second furthers point on the day, there were a couple of shorties about 50 mts further south.
Now when I turned around to look behind me at where you may have been standing when you took your pic, I couldn't even see the toilet block or the boat access road, only the houses to the north along the beach.
I figure you were standing a bit south of the toilet block.
Looks like fun obct, shoulda gone for a paddle.
How's that cloud...looks like macs dog looking over the fence. lol
or Gizzies.
Yeah just on the grass oposite the toilet block, great place for lunch.
Went done as saw some the the final heats at the MalJam including the big money heat. Made me realize how crap I am, Harley Inglby is phenomanol on a longboard and he was riding a 9'11" R. August sets where in the 8' range 2 to 3 times bigger than Manly is today, seems there's a bit of south in this swell down here for some reason.
Yeah it didn't look all that big under his arm.
Manly Malibu club comp is tomorrow, it's a knock out round to boot as well.
