Whats with these lycra cald toss bags....I was out for a run this morning its dark and foggy I look over my shoulder and see nothing, hear nothing so cross the street in front of me only to have some knob jockey with no lights on go sceaming past behind me yelling, "have a look next time"...honestly :

a. It was dark and foggy
b. He had no lights on and was wearing black

I'm not against riding bikes but these blokes need to wind it in a bit...we have bike lanes all over the place but they still take up road by being two and three abreast so they can have a chat while riding....sorry but enough is enough...I called the bloke a few names and kept running but would of been happy to carry it on if requested but he kept riding....sorry rant over

IMO until they start paying money to be on the road like motorists do, they can feck off. If we are paying to build them these lanes or allow them to ride on the road they should be charged something to go towards covering the costs of building such things. Id rather tax money go towards filling in potholes where my car almost disappears into then build a fkn lane for them

there is a bike path and a narrow road down to soldiers beach, so what do the clowns do? ride on the road. i often stop next to them and ask the question, they just give me a blank look.

Yeah, agree... that does give me the ...... The cyclists will claim that the bike path is too bumpy, or that the bike lane has too many pebbles on it... don't get me started !!! LOL!

They run super skinny, super high PSI tyres to go 5% faster... But I smile when I see them mending their punctures!

I ride a bike. Everyday. I sell bikes. My life revolves around bikes. I will not wear lycra. I am a cyclist and I hate cyclists.

Cyclists need to realise that to make their life easier they need to be mindful or drivers becuase most drives hate cyclists. They also need to realise just because they are on a bike doesnt mean they can break all the road rules.

Hence why my bike is a 1952 Schwinn beach cruiser, single speed with a hard gear, and im fit. So what I do, blaze past the roadies, ring my beach cruiser bell and dont let them catch up. Feels so good. Its the little things, isnt it ??

Amen.
Plus, riding without lights is just asked to be swatted out of existence by a car.
Then, it's "what a tragedy, something should be done to make it safer for all of us cyclists."

The worst is West Coast hwy, there is a awesome bike path and they refuse to use it and its a very narrow road with islands in the middle. Just crazy!!

It's no doubt been said before but.......The ones that get me are those that ride a couple of blocks and sit at the local cafe in lycra

so that I have to sit and be subjected to their ill fitting lycra, click clack of their silly shoes and their sweaty arses sitting on the seat that I will probably have to sit on next week when I come down for a family breakfast....

And come in groups of 15 -20 take up all the tables then proceed to talk at the top of their voice, thinking that they are Lance Armstrong and generally kill off a nice quiet breakfast.

Also if you are unlucky and get there after the peliton has arived expect to wait for 3/4 of an hour for anything that you order

Ok my turn,
Yes I am a Surfer, but I am also a cyclist. And when I say cyclist I mean not one of these clowns that sits in amongst a group of 50 other clowns and take up the whole road, ride 10 blocks and stop for coffee.
I once went on a ride with 40 or so of these so called clowns and the only time I did, I was lucky to make it back home in 1 piece. Not from the car drivers on that ride, but the 10 or so tossers that were also in the group that nearly caused a few accidents from there stupidity.

But I have also seen some of these clowns in these groups get yelled at by other guys in the same group for the reckless things that they do.
If some goon is riding in the dark with no lights then he deserves to be hit by a car plain and simple.

Most of my rides are solo or with 1 other, and an average ride for me is between 50 and 80 k's, And it goes both ways. Some of the stuff I have seen on a ride makes me think why.
Like some tradies that have had way to many the night before, but still thinks it is ok to drive to a work site half pissed at 6 am, or some women driver that spends all there time driving with there head turned around looking and playing with her kids in the back seat. Or the courier drivers that have to get everywhere yesterday, Fat lazy bus drivers try and get as close to you as they can when they pass you because there to fat and lazy to give you 1 m of room, or just the stupidity of some young P plate idiots trying to impress the boys.

All of these clowns above also think they are the only ones on the road and as a cyclist ticks me off.

I here some of you say cyclists should pay rego or something, Well I also own 2 cars, so I would guess I pay more rego than some of you already.

As a car driver and a cyclist I can see it from both sides, and yes I will admit that there are some cyclists that do dumb things but there are also some car drivers that do dumb things as well.
As a cyclist I always obey the road rules just as if I was driving a car. I would ask the question that how many people that read this would know that a cyclist has just as much right to be on the road as a car does? Some of you will say BS and I would say to all of you LOOK IT UP!
And If you still want to say BS I urge you next time the surf is flat to jump on a bike and go for a ride, ( Go On I Dare You! ) then you might see what its like on the other side.

When I am surfing I could say bad crappy things about all the stand up's, goat boaters, body boarders, clubbies and every other weekend kook in the water that I have to share good waves with but hey life's to short. I just have to suck it up and deal with it.

There my rant over.

There was this guy in the 80's I used to see all the time pulling a wheelie from like Triggs to Scarborough without letting the front wheel go down, it was awesome

Oh & he rode on the pathway without dirupting traffic...distracting maybe with his awesomeness...but not selfishly getting in the way

BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH...

Ok I am jumping in here because ... well... there is a lot of misinformation about the MAMILS (I am one) and yeah I also surf, SUP and Kite. So go figure! I must be a fooooken weirdo right?

Firstly, cyclists that ride in the dark without lights, are idiots and only on those cases will I jump on your red-neck bandwagons and admit they deserve a smacko!

But most cyclists are not like that and actually are very careful on the road - simply because it is their life on the line! So why put our lives on the line? Well ..

Why do you surf risking getting eaten by sharks?
Why the hell do you kite surf risking being lofted and smacked to the looney hospital?
Why do you ride a skateboard?
Why do you even get out of the house!? Tell you what. Why don't you stay inside and create us all more space!?

Cyclists pay rego you clowns! We all drive cars and we all work and pay taxes and contribute to the overall love of Australia just like you whinging scumbags.

But I digress... oh pardon me for not knowing that yeah... you're just a bunch of w*&*&krs that grew up possibly in Cronullla or some other red-neck corner of this country, with the stamp of "I DON'T GIVE A ShYTE ABOUT ANYONE BUT MYSELF", cause I am an Aussie- --- OI OI OI!

Are you proud now? Loving that XXXX / VB / <provide your own local piss here> and your footy eh pal!?

Now!

Lets leave all the stereotyping and rubbish behind us for once. Can we do that little one?

Lets get to some facts that NO MATTER what you say or do will not get changed, unless Big Ears wins the next election and we all just might as well go and stuff ourselves with homebrew and smokes!

Fact [1]: Cylists ARE ALLOWED ON THE ROAD 24hrs a day, any time, any day, any public road. So share it! I have to share it with your kids accidentally riding into my path when I drive. I have to share it when your tart can't walk across the road any faster because she's full of McDonalds from the night before! SO SHARE IT, OK!?

Fact [2]: Cyclists ARE ALLOWED TO RIDE TWO ABREAST. Y*eah you heard it right. We are allowed to "hog" the road or lane to ourselves just like a car would. And guess what!? Just like cars do not have a MINIMUM speed limit, so do cyclists... we can ride as SLOW or as fast as we want and guess what again? You just HAVE TO WAIT!

Fact [3]: Cycling is an important form of transport and recreation for many Australians. It is accessible to a wide range of people and has significant
health and environmental benefits for the community.

[4]: 2010 has continued a decade of dominance with bicycles outselling cars each year form the past decade by over 2,000,000. Over 1.3million bikes were sold in 2010. These figures represent a 12% increase from the previous year and a 67% increase from 2001, and has been increasing every year since.

[5]: The sales of bicycles are supported by figures released by the Australian government indicating a 32% increase in people choosing to ride a bike in the same period.

[6]: Over 1.9million Australians now cycle and 2008 saw the largest ever increase in cycling. 60% of Australian children cycle regularly and
cycling is now the 4th most popular physical activity behind walking, aerobics and swimming.

[7]: Australians are choosing the bicycle for transport, recreation, fitness, general health and sport in increasing numbers. The choice to ride a bicycle is increasingly broadly based on the entire population, not just the domain of the fit and sporty. And it's safer than driving a car due to the higher incidence of vehicle related accidents actually increasing by 5% since 2005.

: Gearing up for active and sustainable communities: National cycling strategy 2011-2016 has recently been released. Signed by all federal, state and territory transport ministers, the National Strategy aims to **double** the rate of cycling by 2016. Cycling is here to stay!

[9]: In 2009, 10.6% of Queenslanders aged over 15 years and 56.3% of children under 15 years participated in cycling

And so on!

You know, it's a shame that in a Longboard forum we are surrounded by the "militant surfer". Where has the relaxed longboarder gone? The one that surfed hang-10s and went home with a smile, not an attitude!?

So guys... get your facts right.

Cycling and the MAMILS are here to stay

No. You're not allowed to.

Actually, you can only if the bike path is not a mixed use bike path. If it's purely for cyclists, then yes you must use it.
