I was having and arve sesh in some so so waves with about 4 others, and on my second one I see a fin just in front of me but a bit behind the swell.
Then this dolphin breaches on my wave about 10 metres in front of me
I talk'n full breach with half twist, degree of difficulty, 8.5.
Another guy is paddling out towards me so he's just as gob smacked as me, all I can do is grin and point at it and the other guy is just laughing his tits off.
Haven't stopped smilling since then, and that was about 2.5 hours ago.
I wish I had bothered to put in my contacts before I went out it would have looked even better
Had a dolphin experience back in July, 4 large and 1 baby playing nearby. My buddy had the best treat, the baby came very close while paddling out. I saw all 4 surfing just under the wave several times. Feels like your birthday when something like that happens.
yep those dolphins are cool as... i just wish i was faster,,, my tinned tuna has not tasted as nice since they took the dolphin out
Nice one obct....I love it when the dolphins come to play. I have never been dropped in on but have definitely seen a few whilst paddling back out at close quarters. They are so big yet agile. A joy to watch. Glad your day off had such a nice experience.
This is still one of the best shots I have ever seen. If I had been in the water I would probably have been ****ing myself whilst sitting still too scared and overjoyed to move. Dolphins rock.
dolphins !
like the cockroach of the ocean around here!
same category as whales for me
i like em but i couldn't eat a whole one!
Nice one obct, I posted a similar experience here earlier in the year it leaves you on a natural high for a long time after.
Just another reason to enjoy the ocean.
a mate and myself were getting ready to duck dive once when we saw 4 dolphins riding the wave coming straight at us. they were on top of the water too
we did the only right thing and froze like deer in front of headlights
i did see heaps of whales at bribe island yesterday
lacey you would have loved it...lines and lines of just over knee high waves right through the bay,it looked so sik
It must be my cetacean weekend, I was at the Bower this arvo and dirty great whale did a big breach about 150 metres in front of me.
I must admit that I was pretty relieved when I saw him because about 5 minutes earlier, there was a large flock of gulls hanging around, about 250 metres to the north of me and I glanced over just in time to see the water explode.
I knew there was something big over there, but I had no idea what it was.
Neat OB..... Real neat.
No such luck for me at Gerringong, but the surf was pretty decent.
Looking forward to Plomer though......
