Any tips on must see things around Yokohama and Tokyo?

Looks like I have a 6 week work trip coming up. Hopefully I get 2 days off at the weekends.

Surf doesn't seem very close by... But I'm hopeful of catching at least a few waves so I can tick the box, surfed Japan... I love Japanese beer and food. Hope to see some Japanese boobies too !

On a big 9 month work trip to Rome, it was always great to jump in a car or on a Ducati, and hit the road for 4 hours, stay over night, and come home a different way. Are The Alps very scenic over there?

PS - in sunny Brissy today if anyone is close by for beers tonight.

What a shame its not snowboarding season - I could give you some good advice for that. From all reports the food over there is heavenly and its worth going just for that. And as you have already mentioned they do make a lovely beer or three.

simondo, i'v skied the north island hokkaido 3 years in row a couple of years back.

great beer, really good food and the powder snow seems epic every 3 days or so.

i think you are going at the wrong time of the year, however, the flowered landscape in their spring/ summer has to be seen i've been told

cheers

ps i remember coming back from a japan ski trip one year and the boys said lets have an after work beers. i was driving so i ordered a xxxx gold, it was my first beer back home- first sip i nearly spate it out in disgust

Thanks guys. Imagine if I had Chrispy over there to organise the restaurant bookings, parties, girls, and weekend ventures!

Lacey, the beers sounds even better than my high expectations!
Mac, I'm very hopeful of a 40 hour week! Don't worry, I'm good at slipping out the door, and getting through my work on time!

On a different note, a nice female colleague just told me a stack of stories about surviving the Boxing Day tidal wave on Phi Phi. Amazing... Jaw dropping...

Yes I have heard of that one as well - although its not a traditional club like we think of here - more a club for gentleman (or is that an oxy moron)

Tickets are booked! I'm actually flying through The Gold Coast! Just changing planes there.

I figure my best chance of a surf is actually trying to buddy up with a Japanese guy from work, or his son, or brother, or something. Water temp is 19-20-21 from late May to Early July... So I think I'll throw the long sleeve springy in, just in case!

Since I get to surf quality point breaks down here, and being a young Dad, there is minimal night life action these days... I'm wondering if I should focus more on Japam Night Life and bars!

Japanese beers, and restaurants, sushi, etc...

I should be able to drink most of the Japanese men under the table... I've heard they are two beer screamers... I just need to watch out for the ones who can hold a stomach full of local rice wine... SAKE!

mate i dont know where you got your info on being two beer screamers from. every jap i have met or partied with have been extremely excitable and completely mental. good luck grom man. my advice would be go to a seedy place and whatever anyone says to you,you just say yes. adventure is your friend, not your enemy

Keep all your receipts and give the tax-man hell next year
A mate at work spent 3 weeks there at christmas, he said the snow was sick. Very pricey in the major cities and cheaper the further out you go. Have a great trip
