Hi

New to the forum. The lovely lady as a present for my upcoming 40th has offered to buy me a new board. As i have a few shorties already i thought i might try a long board. I am leaning towards an In the Pink as i already have a little Takayama Scorpion which has and is a great board. Looking for a single fin nose rider mostly for beach breaks. I am 75 kg and about 175cm. Any suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Benji

SansS, that is in appropriate!

I've never riden In The Pink, but I know people love them.

Try and ride a few boards to see what you like. Otherwise just take the plunge with In The Pink!

Are you thinking Syrftech or 'traditional' foam and glass?

whatever you do don't go Surftech- the ITP is a noserider; I had a 9'6" Surftech ITP- paddled well, slow to surf from the tail but not a good noserider due to light weight. Poly version would be much better- but very expensive.

Not a fan of surftech. While money is always an option, with the lady paying I figure I can lash out a bit.

Hi Benji,
The ITP is a great board I have a 9:6 and love it, but don't go near the Surftech, I have surfed a couple of them and didn't think much of them at all.
Your post however isn?t clear as to what you are after in a board. The ITP is not usually surfed as a single fin and is not renowned as a nose rider.
If you after a true nose riding single fin then I recommend the Takayama Model T. I have a 9:4 and a 10:00 and have a great time on both, always surfed at my local beach break when under 2 foot.
You would probably hate the Model T at first, but once you stop trying to surf it like a shortboard, like most shortboarders do when making the transition, and you get your feet moving forward an back to get your weight at the right place at the right time, you will understand what longboarding is all about, and hopefully have a ball!
Good luck
CC

I had a Noah Surftech (Comp model) for a couple of years. Real good board but in the end I just didn?t dig the epoxy characteristics so I got rid of it.
The best Surftech I have ever had is the DT3 Tak. Its not really a nose rider due to its pulled in nose, but it goes like a stung cat on the bigger days, particularly in sucky beach breaks. I would recommend it before the Noah, It will probably be my next PU board!

Again thx for suggestions. Solely looking at a pu board and am only buying a newbie. As luck would have it i was talking to an old fella today on the water who was riding a McT fireball square tail. Nice board. From what i've read tho the McT are cheaper but Taks have better resale. Anyone want to share their thoughts on the Fireball.
