WIND: Light/variable in the morning. WSW 8-11kts in the afternoon.

WEDNESDAY 10th: Building all day
SWELL/SURF: New, long period and shadowed S swell. Look for head high surf in the morning, with a building trend and potential for overhead++ surf in the afternoon. Stay tuned, this is still dependent on how this storm finishes up. New NW swell also starting to creep up late.
WIND: Possible light onshore SW in the morning. WSW to W 9-12kts in the afternoon.

Surf OutlookThe event will start off with very fun to, at times, medium size SW Southern Hemisphere swell. We'll see an overlapping run of these swells from Saturday through Tuesday with the surf staying in the shoulder to head high range during that time. During the peak pulses sets up to a couple feet+ overhead will show.
Going further out, we're seeing a very cyclonically active southeast Pacific at the moment and that trend is forecast to continue for the next several days. As a result we'll see strong S to SSW swell for the last several days of the event.
The first of these swells is being generated by a large and very intense storm that is currently off the south end of South America. The swell from this storm is primarily being aimed at Chile but it is large and strong enough (40-60 knot wind and 35-45' seas) for a fairly significant swell to develop for Wednesday through Friday.
This will, however, be a partially shadowed swell and Montanita won't see the full brunt of energy (open swell window is 215 degrees and above, with this swell coming from 185-195 degrees). We still expect to see overhead waves wrap in from Wednesday afternoon through Friday, with potential for even larger surf. Stay tuned, we will have more refined details in our next update after we track this swell through the Pacific for a few days.
Beyond that, a potentially larger and solid SSW swell is currently on the radar for the last day of the event, if a storm behaves as forecast in a few days time. Stay tuned
