get the biggest board you can, quit your job, surf every day, in 12 months you will be epic
then get a job to buy a new board and quit again
Good to see someone going longer rather than shorter.
I used to surf shortboard, but loved the style of classical longboarding, so I went and got a 10' single fin classic. Best decision I ever made.
Don't listen to other people that say that classic style longboards are only for small days. As long as you can safely paddle out, you will have a blast. I have been out in some silly big days, and it's simply the best feeling.
Enjoy!
Just want to say a massive thank you to Ted the Kiwi for taking the time to get that board down for me to try. Really appreciate m8, pity I was just not quite ready for that puppy - hopefully in a year or so, I will be good enough to tackle it!
I ended up getting one of those Blackhawk boards, as realized that I really needed the extra volume! Taken it out twice now and its a beast, going to take some time to get used to it. This morning, i caught more waves in 1 session then ever before, so on the right track!!
Thank you all for your advice, fantastic bunch of people on here!
Cheers
Good on you Hatman I am sure you will have a ton of fun on your new board .
Like I said my daughter loves hers , though I have noticed lately she is grabbing the fish and leaving the blackhawk on the rack
On the same subject I'm thinking about a return from the Darkside (SUP) myself basis the following:
1) My 7 year old is v keen to noseride/walk the board and think SUP is totally uncool (who can argue?).
2) Clown index of Suppers at my local break is now off the scale.
3) My wife bought me one of those T shirts with a guy trying to paddle a lounge which I think is pretty funny.
4) Its more fun to surf without a paddle in your hand.
I want to noseride but have no great objection to buying something new if needed
