I don't get it. In SA people want insane amounts for a used board. Example One. This one its in good nick, it comes with a bag but it is no spring chicken and check out the price. Good on ya!

www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/seacliff/surfing/mini-mal-cutloose-thruster-8-3-/1026192250

Example Two;
Snap up this diamond in the rough. 7'8 Mini mal, looks like a piece of ****, needs a new fin plus. Check out the price.

Havent you heard softboarding is the new revolution. It has to be pink, soft and a buttload more than its worth and YOU are on the right track!

Good topic! I've recently seen a longboard and a SUP both well used, both more expensive than a brand newie from the shop. (And both crap brands!)

BTW McHenry, I have a the current high bid (alcohol influenced) on a board on ebay and if i get it and anyone asks how I got I am going to say "I McHenryed it."

I reckon that board for $250 would be a good buy. Once you got that ancient coat of wax off & got the fin fixed which is 1/2 way done. It would be in great condition. Good board if you want one that size, personally I wouldn't go less than 9'1 for a longboard though. May as well just get a wide thick shorty otherwise imo.

This has a coat of wax, and is in perfect condition. 2nd hand price is - $1750. Because it is custom, hand shape, and it actually goes unreal... hard to replace this one...

You would need at least $950 to get this board off me...;

Hard to put a price on these lovely heavy handfuls! Have a great Friday night!

Yes, that's my neighbor, and we went for a drive down to Cumberland River today, just past Lorne, where I took that photo. After a few minutes she froze her tits off! But my hands were still warm from a game of pocket billiards, so I was able to liberally apply my warm hands!

I know it all happens in the last 15 mins (or seconds) but at the moment I'm top bidder on a nice little Dick Van Straalen egg - he calls it a micro mal, but we can't have that. Hopefully this link will bring it up....

http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/sis.html?_nkw=Surf%20board%206%204%20DVS%20Micro%20mal&_itemId=290962482054

And yep. It'll go for a fair whack more than my bid. If I get it I will skip the 90km to pick it up!

Yes - that's me. I put in a maximimum bid a bit over 355 actually and then E-Bay does its thing and says 355. I think some of the the experts watch and wait and then swoop at the last minute. I reckon there might be a small flurry of activity on Sunday. I don't mind missing it, but I love the look of it. If I miss it I hope you get it - but then if I'm worried about getting i from an hour's drive over the gateway, not sure how that works for you South Australians. Shouldn't you be saving for the renos?

Not long ago I put my 9' DVS full carbon reef runner which was one of Dick's own boards and has a finer weave carbon than on the boards he does for customers, or Mctavish's carbon boards for that matter on Ebay.
Starting bid of $750.
No takers.
I was amazed.
A completely hand shaped DVS carbon longboard in fantastic condition for the price of a bog standard PU shortboard with 4oz glassing that would be ready for the skipp bin after 6 months of hard use.
No one!
The chance to buy one of Dick's personal carbon fibre boards comes all along on Ebay....err, like never that I've seen.
Oh well.
Since I decided to keep it the latest developments will ensure I will no longer be so precious with it.
Btw, regarding that micro mal on Ebay.
"Like new with just a few tiny compressions."
Ah, yeah, right!
Have a close look at the area around the tail pad. Just in front and along the sides.
If its got that amount of denting there then I'd love to take a look at the deck without the wax on it.
Some people's idea of new is a bit over-used.
Not trying to put you off it so I can bid on it.
I'd buy a mad wasp before a micro mal.
My Takayama scorpion covers the micro mal territory already for me.

Yeah - i see what you mean. I'm unlikely to bid much higher than my current max which is hidden behind that 355 at the moment and it's not that much more. At that price it would be a bargain but I don't think it will happen. If I was all that keen - i wouldn't be mentioning it on here until the cat was in the bag.
I do like your taste in boards, Cuttlefish - that DVS sounds schmicko and those Scorpions look like fun. Cheers.

What about all the ones that don't tell you the width or thickness!!!!
Or the ones that don't even mention the brand or include a decent shot of the logo so you can see for yourself!!!!
And the ones that have photos that cut off both ends of the board!!
Or the ones who say "this is the greatest board in the world, only ridden four times" !!!! (Well it can't be that effin great then can it????!!!!)
