"Johno sits at his computer pouring over all available weather information and wave buoy readings. He watches Ex TC track down the coast. He watches for the coming together of a number of factors that will make his local fire like it has never before.......a perfect storm if you will....
He checks the beaches the day before it is likely to hit, things are looking good......
He gets an early night to make sure he is in top form for tomorrow's marathon, the sweep will no doubt be viscous...."
To be continued.......
Names have been altered to protect the innocent and the super secret location.....
"Johno wakes with the sun. The trees in his backyard are telling the right story........the winds doing what it needs to do for the local secret spot........
With much trepidation he packs the car and starts it up, backs out the drive way and down to his local spot.......
........pulls into the carpark and the waves aren't super pretty, the wind's a little funky and the water is a **** awful brow colour but the waves are much bigger than he was ever seen it at this spot....
He jumps out grabs his board and he is off into the line up...."
To be continued....
And this is what the "Perfect Storm" threw up (almost literally) at a spot that never has anything surfable.....
This is why I am forced to drive 45 minutes to an hour to have a surf cause this is my local...hahaha
NB to be clear and not offend anyone .... this was meant to be a light hearted dig at my own unfortunate situation of being away from the surf, not at any of us that partook of a bit of fun for the novelty of it all over the last couple of days.....
You had me intially - I was thinking you were talking about tom morning...its weird here the wind and rain has really fired up the last few hours and its now banging down....we have a super weird forecast for tom as well
Cloudy. Rain, becoming less widespread during the morning, clearing during the afternoon. Winds northeast to southeasterly 50 to 70 km/h tending northwest to northeasterly 35 to 55 km/h in the morning then tending northwest to southwesterly 25 to 35 km/h in the middle of the day.
And then I look at the buoys up the coast and I think of what we will have here tom.....I wonder if my beach will be washed away...I think we will lose alot of sand thats for sure.
On the plus side - the surf should be pretty special over the next few days. Sadly lots of other people will be having to face massive clean ups.
So thanks for the story Horto - I enjoyed it! Hope you get some better waves next time
Was on the news yesterday, no secrets indeed....
Novelty value only so "secret" is well and truly tongue in cheek
^ yes I watched it,I don't know if I would have paddled out in that brown water tho.I guess the guys knew what was underneath them.
