Bit the bullet while I repair my shortie, here's to looking for mellow waves to practice nose riding or joining the pensioners out the back charging through the short board line up
Got a LB cheap enough I can thrash around until I consider something better but in terms of storage which is better? With my shorties, a sock has sufficed but the tankers probably going in the store room although should still be alright in there.
Are sock's also more difficult to put on the boards?
I'm not a fan of knitted socks, they slip around under your hand, no handle stretchy. The Fabric ones are OK, bags are good. A day bag offers the most protection while being lite weight.
I don't store any of my boards in bags through as the water gets trapped against them in a bag. If you can that's the better option
Kadi with your board a sock is fine but I agree with Ted I load them, also they collect anything from grass clippings to sticks.
I use a 5mm day bag for all my boards and a 10mm for plane trips.
I hate board socks... just use a thin 'day' cover. The Ocean & Earth ones are good - nice and light and they have good venting and zips - and a handle and shoulder strap.
Saw some young girl struggling to put a sock on her board last weekend - she dropped it and only just caught it before the fins hit the pavement... took two of them to get it done. Meanwhile my board just slipped in then ZZZZzzzzipp - done.
Kadilak - if you don't use a cover you'll get wax on your roofbars (that will later melt in the sun), and will have to sort the leg rope... (and don't get into the habit of coiling it around the tail of your board as it will 'remember' and end up permanently curly).
Yep Socks suck. I would recommend using a board bag at all times if you can - they do provide protection. If you are feeling creative make your own - the best thing to do is go to bunnings and buy a cheap tarp, then to Spotlight to find some material you like the look of - head home and get the sewing machine out. You can make one in about an hour for approx. $30 all up - depending how much you spend on the material.
I just bought a new travel bag for my new 9'6" off ebay $75 including delivery.
I used a sock once and threw it in the rag bag.
OK Ted now show us your pyjamas
board bag......I use a sock....it sucks.....i was probably the girl who nearly dropped it and had my friend helping me......
also so easy to damage the tail.
