First of all my apologies for this being my firtst post, but I came across a good deal for a new board and would like your advice.

I'm a dutch surfer and been surfing for 15 years. I am 1,81 m (5 foot 11) and 81 Kg (180 lbs). I already own a couple of boards, but no mid length or longboard. I have a 6'0 bear twinfin with glassed on fins, a 7'0 Egg and a 9'0 SUP.

I have come across a Surftech takayama in the pink 8'6. I can only find reviews for the larger boards. Does anybody surf a 8'6?
Is this a decent size for me? Or do I have to go bigger?

I want to surf this in mediocre dutch surf en decent to good surf in France and Spain.

I'm looking forward to your replies and hope to be an active member here.

Thanks,

Jim

Welcome to the forum Jim,great to see members from all parts of the globe.

The ITP model is a great board I've ridden one a while back however it was 9.6.
Pending on what your looking for a mid or longboard board sounds like you have
the shortboard quiver sorted. Why not go for a 9 footer.

Some of the other guys are knowledgeable when it comes to mid length boards.

Don't be a stranger and post some pictures of your local surf spots.

Welcome Jim

At your relatively light weight and knowing the waves in Europe I think if the price is right you should buy that board, take some pics and post em!

I have never ridden an ITP but there a few of the old boys where I surf that swear by them and they surf pretty good. I do not think you can go wrong. I think SP owns one and is pretty happy with it.

Where are you based in Holland? We love board pics and we love pics of local breaks and product....so as Mac says pls post a few

Are you sure it's 8'6 Jim? I thought the ITP started at 9.0 . Maybe the length has been lost in translation. What is Dutchese for 9'6?

He Guys,

Thanks for the fast replies. And yes I'm Dutch so always looking for a bargain.

The size of the board is correct, because it's a surf tech. It's the only way to get a itp in the Netherlands. All my boards are PU boards, so this would be a first. I can find a lot of info about the 9+ boards, but not a lot about the 8'6, so who can help me out.

My previous homespot, before they decided we need a bigger port.

I agree with Daneli, I'm not aware of a tuflite Takayama in the pink at 8'6". Would be a fun mid sized longboard if it was. ITP are a versatile nose rider that you can still whip around off the tail. A 9' would be better if you want a true longboard feel.

Fair enough, don't get those ones in Australia. Be a lot of fun.

Yeah noticed that.

Funny that they offer different size boards in different parts of the world. So probably nobody surfed this size.

Maybe a question in general. Does an 8'6 offer me just a much fun and easy wavecatching as a 9'1 or 9'3?

To be honest imo.the 8.6 sits in the middle of nowhere,8 footers are a wave catching machine compared to a shortboard
when its small but a 9.1 is a better option.
