I think I'm going to get that 8'6 !!

Redline v's Noosa 66 - strangely, I've never ridden an old soft railed log (yet!). But my eye certainly tells me that it's not going to be as precise off the bottom in the big waves.... not giving the same drive, etc. Bob's blurb on the Redline is along those lines.... sting in the tail, easier to handle in bigger conditions.... etc... Make 100% sense to me!

Fireball - If I was ordering this custom, I would pay the extra for "tint", to make it look a little old school.

If I was over 90kg I would have a 9.6 Takayama In the Pink Tuflite as my only board. It would out-paddle and out-turn and generally out-surf any other board in any other length. It would be suitable for any size wave from ankle to double o/h+ and and it can be as H/P or as log-cruisey as you want.

And no - I do not work for them or have absolutely any affiliatation with Takayama. I just know how well they work.

Hi Vanders (should read Daneli)
Picked up a custom this week that might be pretty much what you were thinking about. Old schoolish cruiser 60/40 rails etc.. (Ken Model). Only had it in small beachies, but I think its a keeper

Don't ride mals much as they're really just emaciated unstable sups, but I've enjoyed the cruisy feel of this one and will definately use it a fair bit.

I'm only 72kg was thinking about a 9'2" got talked into the 9'6" and very glad I didn't go any smaller.

Termite, That's awesome.

I've got board envy. BAD!!

I am reconsidering my whole quiver and have a couple of boards up for sale, but something like this is definately going to be added. I have already talked with Brett M and have a shape planned but with a big hatchet fin. Just need to drop a few things to manage the $$$. Anyone want to by a McT Carver or a couple of SUP's?

I like the Arrawarra logo, I used to surf there a bit when I was growing up but haven't been back for 20 years.

Do you think we can line some shaper up on a discount for a bulk order?

the only problem for a shaper that hand shapes is that each board takes me the same time about 80mins whether you do 500 or1, so bulk orders just mean a bigger pile of order forms and maybe even a second bull clipjust joking, but the rest spraying , glassing ,sanding and the worst[}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)]of all POLISHING dont get any quicker just more frustrating, or talk to a xerox shaper (one that has a computer machine) and they'll do it for $25 and if he's chinese 25 cents

Hey Daneli
Got the 8 and a half inch fin with the board (nice fin!), but the board is surprisingly loose and felt a little underfinned to me so I'm definately giving my Shapers Hatchet a go. Glad to hear you are on the same track.

Heck no Mac, just going back to bigger boards for small and sloppy conditions. I only ever seem to SUP when the surf is crap and I am too lazy to stand on the little ones for very long.

The Carver was a great board when I was 10kg lighter. Lot's of rocker and very loose for an 8fter - I can duck dive that board. Just not using it anymore now I have the Munro HP and not surfing punchy beachies like I used to

Thanks for the pics Daneli. Nice looking board (for a carver!) Nah, I like carver's, and I even owned one once.... it's one of the very few boards I have ever moved on.... Mine was around 8'1.... It was actually my first board, when getting back into normal stand up surfing, after 12 solid years body boarding any wave, anytime....

Brilliant thing about body boards.... so easy to transport, and almost impossible to damage !!!! You can travel light and fast, in remote regions of Indo (etc) with no extra cost imposed.... have board, will travel !!

Anyway, I found the Carver 8'1 to be too short on small days, compared to Mals, and too long compared to other fun shortboards.....

Hey, the photos,... the lighting is bright, but shaded.... Is it a white board, or light blue, as a base spray?

Hey Simondo,

Base spray is light blue, it's actually quite a good looking board. Doesn't fit me needs at the moment. Apart from an "Arrawarra" I am also considering one of these;

I saw that board Simondo looks impressive, but just a thought i would be buying a log vintage pre '68 for the same price as you pay for the replicas or even cheaper pending on condition.Your old log would be worth more in years to come so that is why i am keeping mine and also to go in the old mal rallies. It's great to see the old boards that are still kicking around and especially the guys that ride them all the time, great style.

I here you Asea. But for me modern remakes are more durable, better condition, and possibly slightly more refined and slightly better than an actual board from the era. Plus, life is a little too short for me to fixing up an old board !!

I liked the slightly unsual stringer alignments on this one too.

I'm starting to salivate at the thought of the first surf on that foreign (to me anyway) McTavish Involvement. Wide point back, soft rails, quite wide.... I have never ridden a true "log". Sure, I could have borrowed one to ride.... but it's not the same as owning one, loving it, learning from it in different conditions.... different waves.... Funny that I'm going backwards (kind of), to a remake of a 67/68 classic, so as to go forwards again....

But it this beautiful board doubles as a collection piece.... I know I won't hate it! I have even had thoughts of stringing her from the garage ceiling if I can't find room in the racks.... I have that very strong feeling that this board might be a keeper.... (plus, I hold 'em - not fold 'em, eg. snap or sell is fold 'em). And I think my son will be riding this one at times (when he is older), to revisit that Involvement era.

Note the vastly different templates to the Brett Munro Arrawarra Nose Rider & McTavish Involvement.

I also have a 1.5hr appointment with my local shaper this morning.... Pictures will follow in a few weeks!

Still don't have my log. Hoping she shows up today! Otherwise it will arrive next week! And not with me for the weekend.

PS - I opened this thread so I could look at her again !

I don't tire of seeing Kekoa going off, off the top at Winki ^^^^
