I have a 10'' single fin on my 8 foot board. Want to change to a 1 plus 2 setup.
What size of centre fin and side biters should I use??
Anyone have anything kicking around ??
Sounds like you're after a bit more performance out of the board so if you keep all three fins around the same size then go for 5's or 7's depending on your size. Other wise a 7 and 3 side biters would be ok as well. If you have a few fins muck around with them until you come up with a combination you like.
7 or 7.5 Inch Centre Fin, and Size GX (FCS) side biters is a standard set-up. 8 inch centre would also be fine.
9-10 inch fins are really in Single Fin (only) territory... That is the 'design' intent anyway.
My thoughts/preferences are firmly with 2+1 set-ups.

totally agree
Mac, those McTavish boards sure look awesome hey!? Beautiful finish, lovely tints and designs, great shapes, high quality Aussie workmanship, and lovely fins!
Gee mate somebody disagrees with youall true but that board was a spray haha got ya,just posted the pic so McHenry can see the set up with small sides and a 7 inch centre.Oh and that board is gone to Asea remember him where did he vanish too?
Sound some super fancy side bites for 14 smackeroos and a 7 inch centre for $40 only the best in high performance surfing for this guy.

well done
excuse me but i reckon you guys are over finned.
i mean i'm riding a 666 with sunny sides and a 5 1/2 centre.
even a lot ten ft 666 have less then that.
even a 12'6 or 14' 666 a 9" fin is fine.
i've seen sdr cw boards with nifty smaller fin setups.
are you guys not using your rails enough.
well
Yep a pair of 5's and a 3 for the centre will liven things up and bury that rail compressed.speed is your friend more that floating above The water
Lacey Lacey Lacey, different boards mate, you have a paddle to aid your turns and drive, now your welcome to ride any of my longboardsyour feed back would be welcomed but I believe I have (my) fins set up correctly

You have too much rail length, and too much planing area!!
Planing area, interrelates to fin area... And Rocker!
Maybe I just like surfing in Slow Motion!

Mate show us a picture of the under side of the 8 footer please.
Any recommendations for a cheap 6 inch centre. Dont have a lot of money to spend and certainly cant afford the MCT stuff.
Buy the dion, they are well made and well priced...
The FCS ones are fine 2 but I'd go the dion over the FCS.
I may have some sidebites, I'll have a look and see.
a fins a fin, just chuck one in and get on with.
honestly you blokes are as bad as the room next door.
one bloke is there is a fin nutcase
