Been thinking about it but winds are gusting to around 25knots and it is a bit unruly out there on the goldie points. Have a look at Swellnet's Noosa cam though! - Mark
Yeah Mark I just saw it on ABC news. It looks a mess. Should be good once it settles down. We are expecting a good northeast swell down here off the same low.
Noosa is the place to be right nowat home after taking the cruiser for a spin and now about to kill a bear with some local seafood
I have just been sitting on top of Rainbow Hill. There were 3 guys out wide. Way, way way out right in front of Greenmount. Just outside the shark net bouys. At first I thought it was Mac, Chrispy and ASEA but then I remembered that ASEA only surfs beachies.
It was spilling and a bit messy, i couldn't see what boards they were on but they looked like 10 fters as they were paddling on their knees. But standing up when they caught a wave. They weren't long rides but one lost his board and his mate picked him up and they went prone tandem in towards Kirra to pick it up. They then paddled back out. I didn't have a camera so maybe it was Mac, ASEA and Chrispy!
The rip at Snapper looked about 12 knots, nobody out!
Just got back to the unit at Currumbin and Jamie Mitchell is hooking up his jet ski.
3 to 4ft perfection here this morning....great Xmas present. Best waves I have had in months - stoked!! Hope u all had a great day. 7 wife beaters deep n it's looking like a long one ahead!!
Hey Guys,
Was in Noosa all Morning and got over an hour worth of footage on my camcorder.
Boiling pot was a Solid 6 foot ( hawaiian) with the odd bigger set!....with the high tide.
This kept the crowd in the water pretty low with only around 40 guys out that were fairly spread out from boiling pot all the way to the bottom of nasho's. Tea tree was wild and unsurfable with no one out at all. Jonno's had to much water and wasn't really breaking, but first point was clean and 4 foot.
I was only there till 10 am then had to split and do the Chrissy day stuff with the fam'
Back again tomorrow morning for the whole day. Got a leave pass from the missus. ( All hail Boxing Day Sales.)
If I can work out how to put some footage up I will share the spoils.( is it possible to post video footage on this site without using u tube ? ) Stay tuned
Hope everyone had a Great Chrissy Day and Santa was kind.
Cheers Locky.
Congrats Locky - u lucky man!! Lots of people post vimeo vids. I have never posted vids so can offer no advice. Good luck Tom hope u get some crackers.
You bastard Locky...I've been watching the Noosa cams on and off all day. Epic, and it didn't look THAT crowded. Well not that crowded compared to what was on offer there and considering everywhere else up there ('cept DI Point) was probably outta control.
Anyway, hope you snag a few tomorrow, just set the alarm for 4am! - Mark
I also caught up with a few of the Burleigh longboarders up at the Point on dusk and we compared notes...
Dean took out his 8'0 Al Merrick Tuflite gun at Snapper-Greeny and got 4 waves before getting annihilated in the "shorey" at Cooly.
He said he waited 25 mins to paddle out at Snapper keyhole and eventually was sitting miles out in green water and feeling safe until this this 4 metre thing broke about 50 metres in front of him!
Paul saw one of the Goldie legends try to get out on his 9'0 Hawaaian gun without success (what hope us!)
And while we chatted, Burleigh Cove/Point had relatively clean 10ft+ faces and was breaking about 150m out from where it normally does. Soooo much water moving - it was tow-in only. - Mark
PS - the wind has dropped so I'll saddle up for the early tomorrow!
It looks like most of the east coast is going to cop a fair bit of swell. I'll get out to a few spots and get some pics to put up. No sand bottom points here. Mostly reef breaks. Can't surf so I might as well get some pics just to prove it happened.
looked at the alley at around 9 ish. it's pretty big. i bumped into some one who said it's a fair bit bigger the coolie.
the traffic is mad so i didn't get to look at coolie
tow ins and some clubbies out on paddle boards taking the alley on
bloody legends in my books.
i've got no idea how they would get out there. the entire front rocks out crop is swamped and and how do you hold a 8 and 1.2 ft long board that would be 6 inches thick when you cop it- 'NO LEGGIE'
looks like a few out at coolie looking at the cams
Epic Epic well just got home from a quick trip up to Noosa,no waves ride able here on the Goldie, scored Nationals unreal will worth the early start
Well it was a little less crowded than the drive home,I just stayed a little wider than most, there was great surfing going on so the wait for your turn was entertaining.
I went the early to Kirra this morning but no way I was going to take it on when I saw the sets breaking another 100m out past the back break and all over the show. Snapper was a write off and whilst I was at Kirra I saw one board broken 2 leggies snapped and every one getting only one or two waves before having to walk around if you were lucky to get any. The wave size looked good but no fun for the non duck diver on a mal. Maybe the early, going to try burleigh first as it looked a chance. Look out for the guy on the yellow and red mal with the full camo deck grip and the nervous look on his face.
We're getting some good swell from it down here and the SBs are getting right into it but unfortunately, a big ENE swell with the N winds does not really favor the LBs around Sydney.
Well the northern beaches at least.
Saw a few HP/LBs getting into it on some fast closing beachys, but for every one I saw trying to make sections, there were another half dozen sitting out back with their fingers in their arse's and their brains in neutral.
Looks as though Hughie has delivered xmas swell to Qld,we here in sunny Perth have experienced yet another day of no swell.Mind you the beer fridge is full and there's ham and more ham to eat!
Any day at the beach is still better than a day at work.
Best wishes for the festive season to all.
Cheers
Lacey 3 foot with 4+ every now and then.
Sepirott, you wanted swell boy we just got too much, mid week will be prime tho on the points

It doesn't get much better on the points, but the crowds are beyond belief. There's still a lot of water moving around on the high tide, so if you're surfing today, you need to know what you're doing. The points will drain out to absolute perfection by middle of the day and the crowds will be even worse, so if you surf, take your sense of humour with you.
A few shots I took from the last 2 days. We have been mainly surfing lefts with the NE swell running down the beaches. Lots of fun to be had. There was even a SUP out there today tackling a few of the bigger ones.
mac wasnt at noosa...he had half a weet bix and and had enough for the day nah hope you did score mate.....pr1ck if you did seapirot...you got what you asked for me,im glad im injured for an excuse...cause i wouldnt paddle out in that,i only have so much breath..pheeeeeeeeeewwwwwwww
