Just had a real nice Indian feed.
You're probably saying "so what, woopi probably has the largest per capita indian population in Oz" and you would be right, but there's a lot of really doggy Indian eateries up here.
Tonight I went the the Beach hours Cafe, by day it's a normal cafe but at night they have an Indian cook in, and she's way hot, her boss just calls her "Pretty" and I can understand why. It was Top notch and all at a good price, we had the vegi samosas to start, then the lamb Korma and the chicken with coconut milk and bananas all with the obligatory garlic Nann and some really nice blueberry chutney and 2 types of rice.
We washed it down with an excelent Taylor's Shiraz I'd bought with me from home. I'm chockers.
It's just next door to "White Salt" which in itself is the best fish and chips I've ever eaten, and where I may go tomorrow night.
Sadly Arra will probably not be working tomorrow morning, so it looks like Back Beach or Herns Creek will be the go.
Fingers crossed for a wave
Sounds the goods Obs .... a good southern indian fish curry is the ducks nurries yes no need for any curry to be sphincter scarringly intense best luck for a wave tomoz mate ... cheers
Sounds like you are being a pussy there obct on your food choices....order the Phall or at least a vindaloo on your next visit
ps Will work from home Tuesday if you driving by - maybe Monday as well but will not know until Sunday night. SMS me when you have a rough idea.
Still nothing happening at any of the southern ends, so I made my way over to what I call back emerald and managed, some fun waved for about an hour and a half with less that 10 others out and lots of peaks to share.
The best thing about that spot is sitting in the lineup and looking at a headband covered in grey kangaroos just happily grazing away, and paying no attention to anyone.
it's going to be a shame if I don't get the chance to surf Arra, but that's the way it's shaping up
Ob I thought the best fish & chips you ever had was up New Castle way remember photo and all that . What about poor old Scotty you talking about all this food poor buggers probably chewed his fingers off reading that had me dribbling
Today was a good day, great breakfast at the Beach House Cafe (sorry scotty) a bit of a chin wag with my old china plate before he trots off down to Macksville to watch woopi play a game of footy and I go in at main beach for about 1.5 hours of fun knee high left hand pealers that had me up near the snot factory for a few short bursts.
Then after a bit of lunch (sorry again Scotty) it's off up to Mullaway for lefts and rights in the centre about waste height, short but fast before they fell into a big gutter. There's a lot of that sort of thing up here at the moment because the last big storms pushed the sand a long way out.
I never thought I could have such a good time surfing up here and never once go near Arra. Pity I won't still be here on Wednesday, it looks like Arra could be working then.
^^^^^^I still eat OB - just healthier and less portions.
gave you a green because it is the healthier version
I forgot to mention this group of ladies I've be chatting with, they're almost always at the same places as me and it turns out they're all from Lennox head and they pop down every now and then to spend the weekend surfing around woopi, talk about coals to newcastle!
When I asked them why they would do that the answer was simple, it's less crowed down here.
They're really nice people and they look like they really enjoy their surfing.
Loving the travel log - What day you coming back ob?
And I bet Obct love his travel log too! (His Log/Longboard that he travels with! )
Loving the travel log - What day you coming back ob?
It's starting to look like Tuesday, it all depends on how late it is when I get out of the water tomorrow.
If it's Tuesday, I'll probably get away at around 10, that means I may make the central coast in time for a late one, if I do, I'll make sure I call.
It will give me a chance to use one of my winter wetties, I've been only using the shortjohn with a long sleeve rashy since I got here.
All the locals are in steamers, they don't know how good they have it, and the water is so clean, it's like you could drink it.
BTW, woopi lost the footy, so next week is sudden death against bucca.
From the dumb question department, is Woopi near Woolgoolga?
One and the same.
Kadi - should be round - will put it in the dairy
obct - might have to head off to Wellington this arvo or tom morning - will advise if I am leaving
Had a look this morning and decided it was not good enought to stay so I packed and headed home after a quick chat with Lfish.
Arra finally had a wave, but it was tiny and with 4 out, it was crowded.
Turned out to be a good desission, on spec, I popped into Scotts Head for a look and there was an excellent LB wave off the point and not too many out, I went in for a couple of hours and bagged a few nice ones.
Had one that I managed to stay on for a couple of reforms and she took me all the way down the beach, I reckon about 5 to 10% of the length, I was hanging a cheat'n'five. I had to walk back to the point.
It was so far, I decided to count how many paces it took, just for sh!ts and giggles, it was 470 paces back to the start.
Just having a bit of a rest and a quick bite at Port Maquarie before the final push home, sorry Ted, it will be well past dark before I'm at the central coast.
WHat a shame OB looks like its going to be a fun day here tom. Hope you had a safe drive back. Will catch you soon when the Beer Garden arrives
Just to give you an idea of how long some of the rides are off the point at Scotts Head, this sequence of shots may help. In the last shot you can see how far away the beach is.
Nice pics - not ever surfed there to be honest - have heard some stories and seen a few pics of it when the sand has been firing......looks like lots of fun. Its amazing how many long right hand point breaks there are in NSW. It just blows me away. In NZ most of our quality points are on the west coast and as 98% of the swell direction is from the SW they are all lefts!!!
Nice trip OB, wish I had have been there, I would have tagged along. I'm going to need to do some serious work to get fit again, I think I'm almost as OB as you are OB!
