I'm not sure how to post links but I got on You Tube and typed in surfing big boards then this link came up for the 2009 Buffalo big board classic at Makaha.
Its worth a look with this Hawaiian music in the background.

Or this?

Or this? My apologies for the second one, I did not realize it had that SUP footage in it until after I posted.

I found a wave at the local swell magnet, Curly.

Actually, I had a bit of fun because I was the only one out at this particular bank.

But some of the paddles were dreadful even on the 10'6", like 15 mts for a 10 mt ride.

At least I got wet.

Thats it obct. At least you got wet where plenty of others would have jumped back in the car and gone home to mow the lawn or watch TV.

I'm in love with vanders

10 foot redline,we swapped boards and I did not want to give it back, wow it picked up waves so so easy and trims like a V8 on steroids.
We had a two hour session and we must have been doing something right because we started with only one other and soon a crew were on it but not for long as vanders I did the wave hog thing and calling each other into a bigger one rare as they were.I went back on my 9.6 and it felt like a shortboard compared to vanders beast 10 x 24 x 3 and some more.
Perfect weather clear water smooth and not many out,I used to load winter but not anymore,we both had boardies and a 2mm jacket, sorry guy's it was like a summers day for you.

It's still pretty warn in Syd, especially on a nice sunny day like today if you hit it around midday.

I was happy in my summer short john and a short sleeve rashy.

Lots of people in steamers for some unknown reason I think they spent too much time looking at the calendar rather than the thermometer.

Grown up or grown out. What I like about the 10 footer is that you dont have to do anything but stand there and have fun while your whizzing past the other flappers trying to catch your wave. You can even compete with the SUP crowd. I might even get a 10'6 or even an 11 footer.

It was the third clip that I saw on you tube. The alaia stuff isn't my cuppa tea. How hard would it be to ride one of those ?The bigboard stuff was good with all the tricks like the coffin rides and dying cockroaches. I've heard though that Makaha isn't a place a tourist can rock up to and expect to paddle out.

Had a ball today surfing with mac, thought I was going to have to get violent to get my board back off him. He took to it like a duck to water, trimming like a man possessed across the faces of nice little 1-2' peelers.

The waves we on the smaller side but who cares when the crowds are small, water & weather was beaut & great company.

Now go and order one mac, you now know what you're missing in your quiver. Mines also double volan glassed which gives it a bit more weight & holds momentum a little better through the dead spots.
