They say there's a fine line between genius and insanity.
Who said that?... , I'm pretty sure they aren't going to use this as an example

MR had a couple of options for me to replace the carpet tile, one was a really good quality very strong, but hard and thin rubber with a woven backing, the other was a very cheap and weak, but very soft rubber that was in a larger piece.
I chose the softer one because I could do it all in one piece.
So I unbolted the board and took it out of the bag and stripped off the old carpet tile, this was easy because I put it on using a Selleys probuct, so I knew it would never stick too well
Then I cut the bolt holes for the new one and glued it on.
I took the opportunity to lighten it with a few holes before I bolted it back on to the rack inside the bag.
Because this new material is so much thinner than the carpet, I'm going to need to put some sort of protective covers over the bolt heads.
MR: thanks for the mat, I decided not to put he bolts further outboard, as you suggested, because I didn't want to burn more bolt holes in the bag.
BTW, to make holes in the board bag I use a soldering iron rather than a wad punch because it seals the edges of the hole.
I am liking the look of the improved version 2 OB - do you have regrets that you did not patent this concept? I can not wait to see this in real life action !
Not sure that something as simple as a stiffener inside a board bag would be innovative enough to pass muster as a patent.
And not sure if I ever want to go down that path after seeing what grief it bought to a friend of mine. He's now so broke, he can't even afford the $800 to maintain his US patent fee, his lawyer paid if for him.
Anyway, this is a public forum, so at least I could always prove I thought of it first, but who's to say others have not done it before me?

At least you have a good brand name: "The Stiffener."
Some of the older crew might be after one.

Geez... all i get on Tuesday is cheap pizza.
And thus the line between genius and insanity blurs a little further...
Oh yeah... i looked that quote up ... just after old mate says the bit about the fine line between genius and insanity, he says "and I have erased that line."
Must've been a crazy roof-rack modifying longboarder GENIUS.
