i'm wondering if green room face book group with a appointed adm man might be worth considering
I think this could be a good idea, and have been thinking about it for a while, particulalry for letting some of the others know when your going surfing and posting stuff that you don't want the whole world to see. I wouldn't see it as a replacement for Seabreeze, just in addition.
If anyone wanted to try it, I have created a test group on facebook called "The Longboard Room" at the moment the conditions around the group are as follows;
Closed: Anyone on Facebook can see the group name, its members and people invited to join the group, but only members can see posts in the group. To join a closed group, a member needs to add you, or you can ask to join. People may see when you join or are invited to a closed group, such as in news feed or search. Learn more.
You would need to create a facebook account but you don't have to create the facebook account in your personal name, you could use your forum name - up to you. Once the FB account is created, just serach for "The Longboard Room".
At the moment I am holding the admin to the group but I am happy to pass that on to anyone once established.
See how it goes !! could be a complete flop
I understand mate, but I think moving in another direction like fb is not what seabreeze is all about, ignore them I do my best and fail at times I've kind of turned off SB the last week and all its BS of late.
Anyway I don't care,a core group of people who most have met face to face get along like a house of fire imo. That friendship is priceless.
Mate I know FB is the way to go I use it for business and find it hard to maintain the pageMy kids are on it 24/7 another reason I hate it.
Mate I see so many people out for dinner and they all are on fb,not one conversation going on,well its time for my workout, short walk for a beer
I don't have a problem with it lacey / daneli it's good idea in principle .... more I just want to see this room staying tight ... as mac pointed out above that's what counts most
We know whats going on , it's very obvious
Oh what happened to the STOKE & FROFF
But I say this ....... Pup my good man .....get a farken Longboard up ya !!!
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew [}:)]
everything mac has said i agree with. yet im all for it. especially organising surfs and what not.
i have not had the chance to be on here much due to work(,not because of the other rot. )yet have been stoked to see some great new members posting up. has been some good reading. also good to see the w.a boys finally getting together for waves. dotcom, time to go out and play again mate i would even open a facebook account
Good thought Lacey, although for mine, it's just another place to have to go if you want to see what's happening.
In a past life, I was a moderator of a motorcycle forum, it was much the same as this one, with one marked difference. The administrators appointed moderators who had the ability to moderate each post and were notifiied of any shyte that went on by the reported post function.
It was up to the moderator to prevent the kind of stuff that's been happening recently by either suspending their ability to post, or if they continue to act the pork chop, could be banned for a longer period. If they tried to sign up under a different Avatar, the IP address was captured and that was prevented as well.
The best thing about having a moderator is that the issues people have could be nipped in the bud before they escalate and get personal.
In our case, the Longboard forum would have one or two moderators who could vet each post and generally keep an eye on things, as well as act on any reported posts.
There's my $0.04 cents worth......
Has anyone tried to say it as it is,something like your behaver is not welcome here or to the point,**** off
Agreed, some other forums I've been a member of have had mods as you've described & seemed to have worked well, might be worth further thought......
I. Just away ATM with ordinary Internet. Back Tuesday so will ask tech support daughter. Mack sure you search THE Longboard Room.
PS down Woopi way but no waves :(
