unwrapped my new razar and found this underneath the bubble wrap! hoping for a fast and favourable outcome to the situation. I am paranoid about receiving things through freight companys as I work in the industry and see the things damaged on a daily basis.
Wow that's some damage was the board also in a cardboard box
Where did you buy it from the mctavish factory direct or from a local
store
Be interesting to hear the outcome, surly a replacement would be a fair
It was direct from the factory, came well wrapped and in a carboard box. The box had no damage on it I checked it before I signed for it
This is how I would approach it from the mctavish side.
I would firstly have a new board freighted ASAP with a free ,tee shirt ,cap and other goods to keep the customer happy, cant beat outstanding customer service. The freebies will well and truly pay for themselves.
Then I'd contact a local stockist of mctavish and do a deal on the damaged board, this will save return freight for the factory.
Mate thats tragic!! I would also be interested re outcome.
Ive only had one board sent over from QLD and it was perfect when it got here, very well packed up.
I see lots of dammage from transport companys as we get car panels bonnets ect and some look like they have been walked on. What, if any, do these guys get out of dammaging someone elses gear regardless of what it is??????
Thats a shame mate, were you hoping to ride it this weekend?
I had a mate who had problems with a company frieghting over an expensive fish from over east. It went backand forth about 3 times. They finally got him a board that was not damaged and glassed properly and it was the wrong colour
I have not travelled with a Mal yet but will wrap it as much as possible, woud hate to get to the airport and to check it and its wrecked
waiting for a response from company, will keep posted on what happens. yep was hoping to use it this weekend. off to work now
update* manufacturer has offered to refund money if I send the board back or cover the cost of repairs. Given the board was on special in the first place I think getting it repaired is the best option. Any repairers close to perth anyone can recommend?, I have heard of invisible repair jobs but I dont know who does them, its a 6 + 6oz glass job on the deck.
Mate in all seriousness I would contact the factory and speak to Greg. Tell him that you would like a custom board as a replacement for the damaged board and also have them organise the freight back to Byron. I doesnt matter that the board was on special - it is a Mctavish and you have every right to receive a brand new condition board if thats what you purchased regardless of price. I would be very suprised if they don't come to the party.
Once its repaired , if its a good job you'll be flat out even noticing it. When thats done wax it up and get on out there.
Good reason to buy from a local stockist as they will carry the risk of damage and will usually do the freight cheaper than doing it on your own, but they I'm biased.
Every board that comes road freight from east to west comes with special tail and rail crushes. Might as well just get them delivered straight to the shaper in town so he can repair it. Its not worth getting boards sent over as the road freight companies dont give a toss if gets dropped off the back of a truck. Rock apes the lot of them[}:)]
