Ran into a nice bloke down the beach this evening....he was driving a car of pure style but what caught my attention was his lovely 10'6 - can not recall the brand but he thinks that Skip Frye probably shapped it - circa 1966 - 1968. I had my crappy old phone with me so grabbed a few snaps for you lads to droll over. The board was in remarkable condition and I loved the fin....its the original - you can see that they had cut into the big fat stringer and then glassed it in. Has a nice bit of flex in the very end of it. He paddled out to some pretty average waves and got a few. Lots of style and he had no leg rope! Some nice drop knee turns were performed. Nice to see. Lets hope he joins the Greenroom shortly.
Good story Ted and that is a classic old car is it a Humber I wonder Hope too that he joins and spins us a yarn or three mate
Sticks in good nick isn't she
I thought I knew my old English cars and I was going to say Vanguard.
But I do now recall seeing Humbers like that.
I've spoken to Pieter down at Bennetts one Saturday, he's a guest shaper and did the original copy of the Isaac Field model.
You'll see his name on a lot of BBs but the guy who runs Bennetts considers himself a bit of a comedian and he always spells the shapers name "Pie Eater" on the tags.
I remember an old saying about English cars
" English cars aren't any good until they've warmed up.
Then after that, they're just no good"
Cheers fellas I will keep you posted on any developments. Super nice bloke - told him about the Experiment !
