Pup Asea gets rattled when surfing with me,often a no show, gives in before leaving the house, sad yes but true.
The only fight he has is in an online forum like this
Time to sink a Bintang and cross step the streets of Bali
hi all,wat a sic positive article ronny has done on here the guy rocks in and out of the water..........my nimbus 9.1 ...quad is one he made in january for me and its the easy rider...
Yep nice Bappo .
Wondering why you went the quad set up
In saying this is your easy rider is this your small wave board Planing on using mine as my everyday board ( all rounder ) . Should be fun .
well I must have all you guys attention...this thread has not been hijacked..got to be a first me thinks or is it because the prez is away anyway we will finish shaping tonight..when I am happy with the rail shape and the deck is done..bottom shape is complete...its time to finish off...sponge pads with 40 grit..first one is of medium stiffness
second one is soft and you can see how it forms over the curve of the deck
all the while that I am using the sponge pads to fine shape...I am planing the stringer down...trick here is very sharp plane set very fine so it doesnt chatter the foam
when the deck and bottom are done its time to gauze the rails to take of the fine edges left from all those shadows you have taken off...the gauze will take the natural curve of the rail so be shure the rail shape is the one you want before you start with the gauze
ok this baby is done.. and now needs some skin...glassing next...and you know? they havnt got a computer for that yet its all hand done and will be... for who knows.
so we are done shaping and havnt used a great deal of tools...pretty simple really from the top of stand...torture boards one with 40 grit one with 100 grit...sureform...spoke shaves (planing down stringers)...small,medium and large hand planes...duster brush and weight....soft pad with 240 grit wet or dry....gauze....hard blocks...sponge blocks and not shown.... PATIENCE
so thats just a snippet of what is involved in hand shaping a surfboard its a lot more work than what is in these handfull of photo's but at the end... when out of a block of foam you end up with a piece of sculptered art that rides waves...its pretty damn special.
mate I've leant toward the tint all along but RG says he has this resin art thats the ducks knackers - comes down to either cover the string or not to doesn't it .... got a bit of time as Taz's takes the priority right now.
It'll be a cracking board regardless
Edit: oh almost forgot , the woodie fin will have it as well on mine
