Okay experts, here are the factors

- wife, two kids 4 and 5 and my bro surfing buddy ( no family).

- can surf most conditions.

- like everyone crowd to a minimum,(if at all) always go on missions between margs and esperance to find new spots so like a mission or two.

- all adults teachers so can only go school holidays.Which one??

So ultimately don't wanna be in the heart of it but no too isolated so the kids can have that daycare **** and the wife can do whatever the hell wives do?? With my bro and maybe one other mad prick don't mind a mission or two.

Cheers eppi

Sorry, but your not gunna get classic waves with only you and your bro that has
childcare close by and shopping/beauty theropy/clean bathroom/power for hair dryer/phone to ring her mum to complain about you surfing all day on your holiday and not spending any time with her and why do you need to drink that many bintangs everynight with your bro and did you just sneak a peek at that hot sweed backpackers boobs laying topless on the beach and why did I even bother comming away with you if I never see you all day cause your surfing all day and then your too tired at night to spend time with me and the kids and do they serve anything for dinner that dosent have fricken rice in it and why cant I buy tampons anywhere and did you get half a mongrel when that hot indo chick was giving you a massage and if one more person trys to sell me another watch/perfume/tshirt/platt my hair while Im walking down the street ..................etc.

sorry,,,I just had a bad experiance taking a girl friend to indo for six months of whinging.
but when we got back home she told everyone how great it was???

At lest she(apparently) had a great time.

Im glad Im not still bitter about it and am completly over it.LOL

Hey eppo, teacher too,if you need all mod cons, or wife does!! Stay at patra or dynasty. Not cheap but nice for wife big pools kids clubs etc. And best of all kuta reefs and boats right out in front for early morning raids. Get back to hotel in time for breaky and"family time" then do ulu, bingin,balangan... Beautiful scenery for those that matter but even better waves. If wife into seclusion go to balian/ medewi for cupla days. Shool hols n crowds go together unfortunately maybe look at lombok, depends on how much wife and retail go hand in hand i guess...do waterbom park with kids big points

Another nice place is the Holiday Inn (newly renovated) used to be the 'BaliHai', just down the road from dynasty. It is officially Tuban, but can get away with saying it is in Kuta.

A 30 second stroll down the beach and you'll find pump boats on the beach to take you to the reefs.

Family room is really nice, separate kids room with bunk, tv, xbox 360. Also they have an awesome kids club (day care).

Even when you're not surfing in Bali, it is still beats work.

Cheers boys for the advice. Funny shix with ya girlfriend. My wife is actually pretty low maintenance we go camping all the time. She just wanna be stuck with kids all day with nothing to do if ya know what I mean. We do like our seclusion but again what I said above. I'm keen to hit impossibles and all those pumping waves on that south west coast.

So might do a family surf trip in July and a boys only trip go nuts etc the holiday before in April may.

So if it was a boys only trip what would you suggest. Not even bali maybe? Sumbawa or Sumatra? And is it worth while doing one of those surf camp tour things until you get the lay of the land. What's ya advice on all of that?

Read the girlfriend post to my wife we both pissed ourselves laughing.
