Hi guys, I'm keen on doing some board art and wondering what's the best way to go about it. If you have pics of you board please post it.

Read swaylocks for technical questions.

Or check out Josh Dowling's website for inspiration.

Thats awesome Bertie, how did your girlfriend do that. Stencil then paint? Did she use paint pens?

My mates girl friend... lets get that straight :)

photoshop
then print onto paper
trace with carbon paper
then use poska (spelling) paint pens
then clear varnish (spray can) on top to protect.

Going back a few years here but when I was getting customs from Murray Smith / Hot Brewz in WA there was a guy called Devo (Darrin Howard) who did the most insane spays on boards. I had some rippers I wish I has taken photos of.
He was a well respected artist in his own right and did some awesome stuff outside surfing too.

That's awsome Ron - though the maroon mal you did is still a fav.

There's 4 main ways to do art on a board - pens, paint, tint or decel (not to be confused with a "decal") all depends on what you want to do, what stage your doing it at, and how much you want to spend. If your using anything before glassing check it doesn't a) eat the foam, b) have compatbility issues with resin sticking to it.

And we want pics when your done
