Went to the same place again yesty morning, and the same thing happened...paddled out to the nice spot then the blowie turns up and starts buzzing us, so we paddle up to a less inspiring peak and it follows us, so we catch the white-water in and walk back to the first spot and after 5mins it shows up back there?

This isn't the only time it's happened, 1st time one bit 'ol mates toe half off, another time i was changing the prop on a boat and 4 of them were after my ears, 3 times at this spot.

FYI, these critters are about 3ft long with a parrot fish like beak ( ivory so i'm told) that can bite though a hook...a big hook!....we call'em bolt cutters for a reason!!.

The Japaneze love'em, it's a delicacy there, expensive too, ...Gotta have a good chef tho, one that knows what he's doing.

They're bloody good bait, caught many a dhuie on a fillet of boltcutter. Just don't pick your nose or teeth or hold a sanger etc etc before washing your hands.

How far north were you? I've seen one of these buggers when diving in Cockburn sound.

He kept circling and coming in on my ears - even a belt to the nose didn't dampen his enthusiasm. Had to cut the dive short.

never used the bolt cutter for bait, luckily they are pretty rare down here, bastards of things. The missus grew up in Kalbarri and reckons they often called off swimming lessons because a school of them turned up!

Nice picks Ted, not quite that big this morning at Trigg. But still loads of fun with my Daughter. Catching small waves and just hanging out

Unfortunately they're probably not far away mate. I've had many a squid jig destroyed recently by the fuggers in metro waters...

So, is that double head high for you?

Yes Zuke, strictly speaking I suppose it is overhead, although I'd more likely say it was a foot or two. Smartarse And yes, very breezy, very sucky and damn good fun.

I'd reckon that Sunday would be a pretty good boltcutter session up your way Thommo?

Nah back to the grind now mate, I'm trying to convince work to transfer me to N NSW so I have to keep my nose down and sell lots of booze.
Had a ball up there though, some real swell magnets and the local crew were great. Far less ego and wankery than goes on in the water here and south, it was like surfing used to be...
Have fun on Friday, hope you score a burger run or three.

Bit the bullet and travelled today with a fellow 'breezer hoping the wind and swell would do the right thing. They did and we scored and the sets had some size too.

The only problem was getting him out of the water so we could leave

Nice Zuke, sometimes the half moon in the day can be a bonus. IMO.

A few good waves around yesterday.

Thanks Thommo and I agree it does open up a few more options. (But it is black magic so sshh).

Smicko and Mocha, good to see others on here scoring and thanks for putting up some picks. Looks like you had fun today.
