Denmark was awesome but we didn't get as many waves as we would have liked as we spent so much time chasing after my 2 year old son. Managed to sneak a few in anyway.

Started pissing down on the monday and we decided to call it quits and go home.

Denmark is a beautiful place and great for the kiddies.

I'm thinking the superbank. A bit cliche but when it gets around the 5-6ft mark there is usually plenty of waves to go around - especially around kirra. Bring on the barrels!

What about you?

It's pretty inconsiderate for a Perth boardriders club to hold a surf comp at a place that isn't their local during the most crowded time of the year.

Have you clowns considered holding it at some other time that is not easter?

hah. I was there. I saw how crowded it was. I was brought up in Albany, lived there for 15 years and go down for holidays to see family and friends whenever I can. I have never seen that particular beach as crowded as it was on Easter.

I was amazed to see so many cars, it looked like bombing range on a busy day, but the kicker was to see a surf comp on at the same time. A Perth club, no less.

No need to get personally angry at me. I'm just calling it as many people see it. The only thing people hate more than a surf comp is a surf comp from out of town.

Actually to your club's credit, at least you guys didn't try to flag off an area of beach and have a PA blasting comments like "yeewww... gazza hits the lip with a sick reo!". That is the worst.

Like I said, we have been doing this for 20ish years. No one has ever come up to us with anything negative to say about any of our comps. We dont ever put it out where people are surfing and we always ask the local councils and /or local boardriding clubs. Next up is Rotto, wanna come?

I'm with DL on this one. Comps suck!

I know people who have joined clubs for the sole reason of getting some uncrowded surf. Selfish act... Getting council permission to ruin the day for heaps of other guys...

How about rating the surfer for how well they stand out from the usual crowd, and how fairly they behave toward the other surfers on the break. Taking over a whole break is weak.

Thats your opinion, but its more than just surfing. Ive met some great people while Ive been with the club and we have the best social events. We have comps once a month. We go all over the place. We dont stop people from surfing with in our comp site like alot of other clubs do. Eg Two rocks shut down the whole of the **** when they have theirs. Imo thats not fair but I dont surf there anyway..

As far as taking over a whole break, we dont do it.

Have you comp haters ever considered that fact that there is usually only 4-6 guys out in the water competing at one time while the rest are on the beach watching. judging etc. Much better than 30-40 odd surfers usually of a better than average standard hitting it at once!
Geez I was a member of Trigg Point Riders in the 80's and 90's and most of the non-club members loved it when we had a comp on although being the point it was always mega-crowded anyway

please dont let the surfing forum lower its self down to the kiting forum level, keep it happy, i've already given up kite surfing and am on the edge of giving up surfing and going back to skateboarding and sailing because of the bad vibes..

Just shrug it off and move on
