This has been sitting in the roof of the shed for 12 months, shaped and wrapped in plastic, while other things took priority.
Pulled it out today, and it's not good. Apart from the inevitable small dirty marks and scratches, there are some swellings which I presume is water absorbtion. only small, rising less than 1/2 mm, but I don't know if the integrity of the foam precludes durability.
Shaped to 7'2" x 23" by 17"T x 14 3/8"N x 3"thick. (I'm 6'1" x 100kg and sick of midgets telling me to ride a 6'6"board.''
Not the clearest photos unfortunately
Jim.
why wouldn't you glass it? all that effort, rub the swellings out, 1/2mm not much, throw glasson and see how it works for you. a prototype is better than "Faarrrrk what if""!
Looks like a pre shape from a shaping machine that hasn't yet had the shapers final touches. I'd sand down those rails a bit and glass her up. Could be a good board.
OK. After letting it yellow on the patio for a few days I've thinned the rails out a bit and I'll glass it this week
Will let you know how it goes.
Might need to use some colour to try to hide some of the deficits though.
The best rides I have have been on old boards I have picked up cheap and repaired. For some reason a board you have somehow put an effort into always rides and feels better than not at all.
