Here's a pic of my tuflite 6'8" Flyer. Its got plenty of volume and width. It's great for travelling.
I'm 98kg. I also ride a 7'0'' semi gun and a 7'2" gun.
I've been thinking heaps about my Indo quiver for 2010.
What was the biggest board you rode in the Mentawais?

What was the biggest board you rode in the Mentawais? 8,8 Simon Anderson pin tail. Its for sale at the moment.
I could have got away with the 6,5 LSD but I also took a 6,3 Al Byrne channel bottom, I need to get a pick of that one it looks sick.

Hey doggie, could you explain why your a fan of rounded pin tails, is it the type of wave in your area ?
Nice quiver btw
mac
I recon that, in general they turn a bit better and more fluid.
Swallows and squares feel a bit boxy to me due to tail area, also rounded pins in 6,8s and bigger (look at any Sunset or Pipe board) have far more control than any other design. Not that Im surfing Pipe but Murray Bourton who did my quad talks about ball and socket type of movment on these types of tails. Even Al byrne who did my channel bottom went from swallow to rounded pin recently and was super keen when I told him thats what I wanted.
As far as waves go, dunno that type of tail always feels planted so I spose down south, good waves ect yea maybe thats why. Never actually thought about it that much. Ive all types of tails in my boards from diamonds to square- swallow ect and always come back to the old round/pin tail.
Hope that answers your question mac
Oh and thanks re quiver funny thing is thats not all of them
Doggie
In regards to the rounded pins.....
When I was living and surfing the gold coast I was using a little deeper single double concave with a rounded square tail- this was great for generating speed fast and the rounded square had more surface area that made it easier to change direction rapidly - eg. snap , cuttie but would slide a little on a sucky face. Great fun for punchy Dbah or T.O.S.
Once I moved West that style of board wouldnt work as well. I started to ride rounded pins with less concave . The rounded pin helped me hold the line in the barrel and wouldnt slide around- it sorta just sticks there yet still fast and easy to generate speed (only on sucky face).
The rails are longer and I noticed that I could draw my cutback out longer and hold my speed through the whole turn rather on a square I would slide out a little and loose speed.
Rounded pins dont work well in fat surf- they bog rail easy because not enough surface area where as square would hold speed , kinda like a fish.
Ask K.S. - Most of his boards are rounded pins.
ANyway - I found this. It explains things a bit more.
