I've been surfing in your backyard . I've had plenty of good days out there. Conditions have been good there in general. But I miss my local and I miss tubes, especially frosty early morning beachbreak tubes.

I rate the winter 1/10 for metro beachbreaks (almost 0/10 considering some places haven't worked at all). 6/10 for the places that have had banks, or reefs (lots of mild, sunny offshore days but not many bigger days).

Bring on summer and the seabreeze. I surf a lot more than the normal punter and over winter and i would give it 3/10 on the local spots i surf, there has only been 3 good days.
Been to bali twice this year and that has save it for me.
For some reason i can get more good waves in 20days in bali than i can all winter in perth. I must say that i dont go down south very much any more or over to the rock as the prices have blowen me away. Would rather save it for indo
But i will be out there next week giving it a punt with my froth head on

South & north have had a very good season with constant offshores and swell. Not a regular this winter so cant rate.

Now perth metro is a entirely different story.

With only 3 decent fronts this winter, metro banks have been for the most part non existent (except for one or two generally reliable banks - but crowded). One of the worst metro winters I can remember - 2/10.

down south, gotta be 8+. everyone must be up north or in bali, been cold but clean. Would score it it higher if i hadnt had to work so much.

Im lovin it so far - first time back in the water surfing after a 5-6 year break. Only made possible by the warm sunlight and booties!! Its been perfect for someone getting their confidence and surf fitness back up to scratch. Been lovin it as it is!!

I agree with the crap metro scene score but getting out of town seems to be the way to go. I have scored some good sessions not too far from home (within an hour or two away) April/May was pretty good and then it just faded.

I just read they are predicting a big cyclone system off of QLD & NSW for spring and summer, not an expert on it but why dont we get that down here? Certainly would sort out the beaches!

I agree with most on the below average surf for perth.. 3/10- its enough to give up surfing all together in the area.. you give and give Perth so many chances over the years to get form and continually get let down but gutless surf with poor banks, 80% of the time..
Down south and out of town has had its epic days though, no one can argue with how super epic the surf was down south in those weeks in Autumn...

The best surf I had this year in Perth was at Cott main in July, 4m swell with 40knot SW squally winds & rain, 11pm at night with 2 mates after a few beers.. best head high wedgy ramps on your backhand running off the groyne I have seen there in a very long time..

Had the cleanest surf I have had in my short career north of perth a couple of times in Autumn. Head high glassy long walls with occasional barrel section. Only two other people out as well
