Thinking about buying a gopro. Anyone got one? What's the video quality like, how do they stay on your board, any pros and cons?

The new Hero 3 will be out before Xmas and appears not to suffer the bulging image effect that many people do not like... be quick, they will sell fast.

Longboards Scarb/Soul Boards Store have a couple of the new silver in. The Black is what most people will be chasing and will be in in about two weeks and you can only get the surf package in black.
Mount to the board with either a stick on base plate or you insert an FCS plug into the board and mount to this. Hear of very few issues with these setups. Quality of image is as good as it gets and most stuff on TV etc where they want action footage use them nowdays.

I dont see the issue buying a gopro online.
I only bought mine in a shop because I needed it asap.
And I had to drive to about (not exaggerating) at least 15/20 different camera/electronic shops to find the 'pack' that I wanted because they all sell out when they are released.
For stuff like electronics, we get shafted here, I'd rather keep the money in my pocket than in mister Harvey Normans.
Gopro are onto it however, $80+shipping on the $400USD black here3 to australia.
Just spoke to a buddy who has been waiting 6 weeks for his GoPro 3 black that he ordered off the net hoping to get it quick. Interesting to see if he finally gets it before we get ours.
I got myself a Go Pro but now looking to do a editing coarse. I even went and bought a new Mac for home just to use but im just plan stupid at stuff unless someone shows me how to do it
Anyone suggest a good coarse to attend North of the River
Just use youtube JB. Have a look at some iMovie tutorials that others have posted....Thats how I learnt.

When GoPro first went to video surfers loved them but ended up owning a second one after their first went buy-buy and floated into the vast blue.
This no-doubt boosted GoPro sales.
90% of GoPro customers I've known have been down this path of buying a second GoPoo or spending the equivalent on accessories in attempts to thwart the design problems.
GoPro have fine tunned the art of wooing gullible consumers with big claims and fantastic marketing they only get away with because consumers know little difference.

If I was buying a go pro I would be buying from my local surf shop, as being a regular customer , I would get a 25 to 30% discount and if something went wrong I would take it back to the shop and they would handle it. As a example, I bought a wetsuit in may last year $150 off rrp, as always treated it badly. Took it back in November to get some seams fixed, received a new one in december(on advise of the shopkeeper). Forward 1 year later(now), I am waiting to get my suit repaired under warranty(2 small holes) as I got a 1 year warranty on the replacement. Try getting that sort of service on the internet, especially buying o/s.
In the short term getting a good deal online will put dollars in your pocket , but eventually once the online sellers have completely cornered the market they will screw you.
Yeah but what I'm saying is try and support both even if it does cost a little more, we have to keep all these people in jobs, so they're not going on the dole and surfing all day, it's crowded enough as it is isn't it?
