There are still secret metro waves. There are days in winter when I can get a bank to myself with no-one within shouting distance. If I'm too lazy to hassle at my local and willing to drive and/or walk a bit, there are quality options all over the place on the right day. It's worth not publicising them.

Fair call mate I agree, but I also feel that some of the places are are spoken of secretly are crowded heaps of ** anyway. I was largely piggy-backing 62mac's comment about gamesmanship.

Same spot 26 years ago ( hard to see on old film photo's )

Me as a teen, note how the wave broke all the way down from the reef to the sand bank. And NOT ONE other person out with me.
And thanks Bakesy, it is good people respect those who have been riding it for nearly 30 years, and people still think I'm not a local there.

7 months ago on a very trying day but still managed a wave. Again empty.
This place also has a big female white that likes to hang around, she can get grumpy.

I've been reading the SB forum for a while and love the passion of some,ok there's still the odd secret spot in WA which I guess is only a secret to the newbies.

Funny thing is,I've noted most of the SB guys are from WA,Sup East Coast with a couple from WA and the LB forum is mainly QLD with 2 guys from WA and a few from NSW's.

Enjoy

Seeing pics of secret waves gets me phsyched to get out there and have a crack at finding my own, thats the beauty of having so much coastline and so many different conditions over here, so many variables means waves always exist somewhere (almost always )

Nothing better than takin a punt on a bit of the coast that everyone has written off in certain conditions only to score it uncrowded and super fun.

Mac WA is very different to east coast. No intention to be rude but you guys can keep yr passes, super banks, dbahs, tallows etc. Personally those spots are my worst nightmare with all the sups, rubber duckys, goatboats, shortboards, longboards, spongers, jet skis etc etc investing the place.

Great footage Bakesy, I love that spot.

Made the mistake of surfing avalon on that day. Caught two fat crappy waves and got frustrated with the local malibu gang.

Waterman, wish I was surfing there 26 years ago! Lucky bugger! Mind you I would've only been 8 though...
