This is one of 3 edited bits of 2 runs taken back in October. It was a 25kt Ne off Coal Pt Lake Macquarie.I'd been out for 1.30hrs already & was pretty stuffed but when Tim offered me his go pro for a few runs I couldn't resist!
Plenty of puffing..This was before I found out I could move the mast foot forward to make the board more controllable.
Also since then I've got a smaller fin & a mast that fits the sail so it's more controllable & twists off.I had been getting some gybes previously in the session but stuffed everyone with the camera..All I could think about was 'camera , camera ..sploosh . It's good to look back on because I think I've improved a bit since this.
Few apologies..we left the sound on as this was my Yipee! yeehaa! day ..so if you want to avoid the mast creak but hear the yeehaas go to 2.03 odd..you'll need volume as although I was yelling at the top of my lungs the camera didn't pick up much. I'll post the others as I get them ( Tim's editing them.) I've left all the waterstarts / stacks in etc but they'll be in the next 2 clips. Thanks Tim!

This go pro ended up on the bottom of the lake about 2 weeks after this was taken. If you have scuba gear you could go & find it ..it was only a few weeks old and full battery! ouch! That would have hurt![}:)]
Ps - I unhook occasionally as I was going to try a chop hop but I didn't get to do any.( actually I did do one small one that doesn't show up & did a good one coming back on the other tack but you couldn't tell as the camera was on the other side of the boom & only showed the lake ).

I couldn't believe the noise of the boom creaking when I first heard it! The camera exaggerates it because it's so close..I don't hear it when I'm sailing thank goodness as it would drive me mad!
Oh for anyone that's interested..the board is a 95ltre Tabou Rocket, sail 4.2m Sailworks + 30cms fin ( now I use a 26cm fin in those conditions).

Good vid Sue.

Pity about your friend losing the camera.

I prefer the helmet mount but wouldn't mind mixing my ids up with a bit of boom and mast top perspective. Anyway the helmet mount won't scare anyone off.

I must admit the idea of putting my mug on seabreeze was scary especially with the crappy glasses ( one lens dark / one light)..
To the red thumbers..yep I know it's a bit rough around the edges with no nice music..Most videos only show the good bits so I decided to show the warts & all.. You'll have to wait for the next 2 short ones to see them..

excellent video, shows the exhilaration of blasting out in a windy day

Sue, your front hand looks very close to boom head, you may want to try moving harness lines further forwards a fraction so you can sail with both hands close to the lines, the rig will be easier to handle.

do those sailing gloves make your arms ache?

I noticed that.Part of it is a mental / security thing as I seem to do it more when I'm very powered up & on the edge. I think it is so I can luff the sail in an emergency or unhook.I sometimes do move them forward when Im so powered up although that doesnt really make sense does it..? Shouldn't they go back..?
I think since this was taken I've tried to make the lines longer by moving them closer & get lower to the water. Especially gybing I'm trying to really stay low as I gybe ( I was really upright here & too close to the boom ).I think I'm still too close to the rig as I gybe but knowing what to do & being able to do it are two separate things! [}:)] Ill note where my hands are next sail.Unless Im on the edge I dont really have much pull on them (very light ) as I use the harness mostly.
I don't know how you sail without gloves..my poor delicate little hands hate the feel of the boom grip & get sore in no time without them. Mind you the booties cause more grief.I stood on the toe of one halfway through a gybe last time & tripped myself & went in..[}:)] @##!! ( As guy Cribb would say - that was prob due to poor foot placement in the first place..)

if boom is pulling at front hand, forcing you to move hand further forwards, then harness lines need to go forwards, only a cm or two, its amazing how much difference it makes, and if pulling at back hand causing back hand to go back further, the move lines back slightly. Real test is if you can sail and drop front arm off (need to drop weight and lean forwards as well) - if you can then lines are probably in right spot. Stance in windy powered up conditions is low and away from the sail - your stance looks fine to me, and if your lines are longer now you should be fine - maybe try leaning front shoulder back and forwards so you feeel comfortable moving your front hand back a bit.
end of the day, as long as you are screaming along having a great time, its fantastic!!

Ps - The reason why it was my Yeehaa! day was that I'd sailed all winter to keep my hand in & its crap sailing here in winter. One minute 5 kts the next 25kts+..+ the water is icey! This was the first session I had with a decent consistent NE seabreeze..What a difference!
