Jimmy my lad you are indeed correct. It appears that the thread has gone in a completely different direction to what I thought. I supposed that it would be the kitesurfers who would need to be placated, not a feminist. Maybe I should rethink my opinion of a kitesurfer's intelligence. They are obviously higher on evolution's ladder than feminists. They can understand humour at least. I wrote the story for a lighthearted look at how you look forward to the weekend to go for a sail, pin all your hopes on Saturday because of the forecast and guess what, the forecast was wrong. That was all.
The line "she who must be obeyed" did indeed come from the old British show "Rumpole of the Bailey". As far as I know Leo McKern used it as a term of endearment to describe a very much loved wife. I am not sure how you can take this line and make deductions as per my own relationship with my wife. Smooch “Go satisfy your selfish pursuits”? Give me a break. If you only knew. I work bloody hard around the house, not only do I do all the outside work, when she is working and I am not I also do all the housework, yes, even cleaning the toilet. Oh by the way it is difficult to wash the dog when you don’t have one. The story was fiction if you didn’t pick that up.
The world has many injustices, I wonder if Smooch is also upset about the problems in Darfur, Iraq, Zimbabwe, the destruction of our environment, killing of whales, poverty and starvation, need I go on. These problems are worthy of getting upset about and I can understand that, not getting upset about something that is only a story and in fact never happened.
Monty Python's "Life of Brian" absolute cinematic gold.
Smooch won't get it though.
She/he/it? obviously hasn't got much of a sense of humour.
