Not sure I'd like to see the insurance premium on kato's hard-core slice & dice mount.
Here are some vids made with the gopro. Youtube does not do justice to the quality of these cameras.
Although filmed in average conditions, the wide lens does not show the extent of the conditions like size and wind strength.
Got some great footage in south west WA conditions yesterday
Cant wait to use in some nice big stuff in sunny conditions.
Laurie the handlebar mounts look good. Would make a good wave rider view.
Nice Angles Rooster...it shows your airtime and rotation quite well.
A mast tip angle looking down (like Kato's mount) would be sensational on those launches.

Thanks for the info Haircut. I use after effects cs3 for stabilising shots, a friend has another brand of headcam that has standard lense. I do see it being a lot of work and given the quality of the go pro footage and price I dont see the need to bother.
With the HD model about to come out it will be interesting to see what its like.
For those who dont know too there is a firmware update for the gopro to enable it to handle 4gb cards. Doubles you available footage
When using these cameras from experience it is worth having some form of tether to prevent the untimely swim of your camera too. I know of my old camera with some awesome wave footage blowing bubbles on a reef in Mandurah
btw, brings tears to the eyes watching some of the footage from you guys and seeing how clean the waves are and soooooo much space in between

What height have you mounted the camera. On top of the head or at eye level? I,m hoping that by mounting the camera at eye level will improve the realism of the shot,speed and white caps. Might even try harness level

Saw this footage from a clew mount.
For me, this is one of the best angles I've seen, doesn't make you feel sick with the weird roll effects you get when its mounted at the front looking back.
Over the shoulder mount is based on the camera angle used for the movie/instructional dvd "Wavesailing secrets of the pro's revealed". IMO it is the best rider mounted option around. Gives the most realistic view of rider and what he's looking at with the least amount of shake due to it being connected to your waist which moves much less than a boom. Helmet cam looks too much like a seagull pov, you need to capture rider, sail and wave to give you the full picture of what is going on.

is it just me or has the world gone mad with the POV style videos?
having a POV shot as a cut away is fun but I find it very boring to watch a 5 minute video shot entirely that way. Never mind that I am always ready to reach for a bucket to puke in.
and to those that don't know what POV is, you aint been watchin enough pron lately
