Actually we were lucky. This was the fun day, which was meek. The rest of the week and the day after were much stronger winds.
So where/when/what ?
I was judging by the shorts too. a mixture of king gee scoops and some slightly longer boardies...Early eighties ? p.s. If you had worn the long shorts/boardies fashionable today you would have been considered a dork wearing bombay bloomers!!!
Could be any X-mas in the last 20 years at Melville beach.
The Wallies come out once a year, usually snap a Uni & go home
The owners still wear the same clothes as well.
One person is on the money.
By the way....
Windsurfer One Design nationals 2008 will have 50-60+ sailors, including about six Olympians, a dual world cup winner, a multiple national wavesailing champ, a multiple masters national wavesailing champ, a guy in the top 8 in the world in masters surfing, six world board or skiff champions, the Olympic cat worlds runner up, and sailors from W.A., Fiji, Norway etc.
Port Stephens, January 23-26. No gear hassles, no waiting for wind, no big money- just great windsurfing!
Wow, you guys sucked, but that was funny !...
Picture is from Westlakes, Adelaide, Xmas 1990. At the time, was the last Windsurfer brand "Worlds Championships".
Pic is from some fun events in the morning, but the racing event was on the ocean, of course.
It was the last such championship, as the original company was tits up by then.
Worlds is quoted above, 'because it was the taper end of what the big events had been earlier that decade, with 550 competitors at one point. Still, there were a few good international names out in Adelaide, and it was a good event.
I couldn't compete (real bad injury at the time), but then-GF was stationed in Adelaide, so it was convenient to drive by.
Cheers folks.

You guys pays wayyyy too much attention on how other men dress, I'm worried about you'z...

> My guess is 1982 or 1983
Here's a clue: the non-triangular Windsurfer sail appeared only in 1984.
So had to be after that. Good try though.

Ah ha, funny !! How do they manage to break u-joints ??

Funny too. Then again here in North America people show up in the spring and show each other the brand new sails... and their new sportswear. Very worrisome...
Need the booties on old boards for railrides, though I used to bare foot.
I tend to look more at what the other sex wears though...
