So I went out to good old Beachmere yesterday to try out another couple of old boards, There was myself (obviously), Nowork, and one of my mates. Nowork (Tony) Said there was a few big Jellies out in the water, well he was right about that. Usually the blue blubber jellies dont bother me, I have swam in and around them for years at Beachmere. This time for some reason the s#%T of a things got me good.

One got the back of my knee, left a nice really bad instant rash to the point where my leg was starting to get stiff and very sore, Still really red today but not as painful. another one got me above my foot and below my knee, also very sore but not as bad.

I think I will be investing in a full leg length wet suit shortly. Has anybody had this issue before? As I said above they have never effected me like this before. But some of them were huge. I have been picking them up for years, dropping them on myself etc etc never had issues with them until yesterday. Could it be a mild allergic reaction this time?

(pic thanks to Expresident from the kitesurfing forum, it was the best I could find)

**** load of them in the bay at the moment and off queens beach.
You can have a reaction to them some people more than others.
Worst parts are top of ya legs and under ya arms and ya face if your really unlucky.
Soft parts of ya skin can come up with bumps but don't normally last long.

Next is the itchiness. Best treated by very hot water (under the shower). ..I hate those blue blubber jellyfish bastards.

Yep copped the itchiness last night, hot shower worked but still tender a little today. Redness has pretty much gone just raised bumps left now.

They are starting to disappear as I was out at manly the other day, I believe they lay eggs in rivers/estuaries during spring/early summer and go die out at sea? Correct me if needed, but they make you itch and can have a burning sensation (Atleast there not deadly!), it's fine aslong as your on a high liter board.

Nah not deadly, but really annoying. I was testing a bodgy repair job on an old mast foot, and testing my mates old Windsurfer One Design. So very high litre boards but was falling off quite a bit as trying to set the board up at the same time. I will be back next week to try again lol. I don't mind a bit of punishment
