water divining i have seen to work.

fencing wire seemed to gain the best results.

the person i observed doing it could even suggest depth of water.

it was validated when the bore was dug.

merry xmas

hahahaha

ACCC, it's a little late!.. It's a bit embarrassing we need the government to protect us from this kind of stuff..

yes, i used a smiley face to confuse. [}:)]

i am being serious. i don't claim to understand the how or why but i have witnessed the process including the digging of the bores and confirmation of depth and water.

although many will poo poo the idea divining is how many rural folk figure out where to place the windmills.

i myself don't seem to have the knack only getting subtle signs. so nothing worth spending the time and money to dig for with me.

Does ACCC stand for Australian Centre for Conconcting Conspiracies? I thought that Graeme Samuel looked shifty

Remember firepower, it was that fuel saving additive around a few years ago?
It `worked` so well the bloke brought himself a multi million dollar boat,
now it`s sitting at hillarys with must sell sign on it.
These gimmicks never last!

Gestalt, I'm 50% sure you are pulling my leg for Lulz, and I'm tempted to call poe's law on your comment regardless. It did give me a laugh.

rationalwiki.org/wiki/Poe%27s_Law

But at the risk of being trolled, I'll bit anyway.

Water is a very fascinating, it expands when it freezes, and melts under compression, among many other tricks that no other chemical can match... But there is nothing in science under controlled conditions that gives evidence for bits of wire being attracted to subterranean bodies of H20.. It's basic high school chem and physics (to use that old gem).. Some Hydrogen and Oxygen aren't going to effect some twigs of Iron being waved about by a kooky charlatan with a silly face.. This is a solid theory, like gravity and evolution.. Only the ignorant, stupid or insane would not accept the facts... And there is no crime in ignorance..

Now, my understanding is that wells tap into the water table, I learnt in school that water tables are very vast, The Great Artesian Basin would be pretty hard to miss with a hole.. So you evidence can be discarded with simple probability and good guess work.. It's a big claim and a personal account is perhaps the least convincing way to convince anybody with a hint of rational skepticism (I put rational because of all the irrational skeptics on here).. Think of all the UFO nutters who are convinced they are Rapter Jesus, personal accounts are worth ditto..

What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence- Hitchens..

Now if your serious, which I'm 50% sure you are, maybe you should watch this who series..

happy holidays

I've seen a bloke dowsing in my backyard.
Apart from needing to be reminded where his marks were placed, I took the trouble to play with his bit of wire myself
It was heavy gauge wire, bent 90 degrees, with a long and a short end.
He held the short end.
Even the slightest tilting off-centre caused the much heavier long end to swing wildly about, as a simple effect of gravity.
It looks convincing, but I could make the wire do what I wanted with no perceptible movement of my hand.
The water table is pretty high there near the river, so he confidently predicted I could drill pretty much anywhere and hit water.
The farm I had near the Hummock in Bundaberg had a 180' bore on it, one of the deepest in the area. There was 2 layers of rock they went through to get to water.
The bloke at the irrigation shop warned me to be careful with my pressures and how I ran the pump, as it was an old bore, and if I blew the casing, I would be up for a very expensive time.
I'm not sure how the old bloke would go with his fence wire there.

who knows barn. i think we should assume that there are plenty of unknowns still at large in the universe.

anyways, all i can say is i've seen 5 bores drilled on 2 different properties and 4 of those 5 resulted in water at the depth stated by the dowser.

whether there was a large water table or whether it was chance who knows.

ripley's believe it or not.

And back on the subject of larceny by rubber band, has anyone seen the news that the ACCC has officially notified the Power Band folk that they are a bunch of bull****ters and they need to refund money to anyone who wants it.
Methinks there is gonna be a bank-rupture a coming soon.

I had a dream about dowsing last night.

Which is harder for science to explain - dreaming or dowsing ?

yeah, this is starting to pop up in the news.

while i'm a card-carrying skeptic, and know this has no basis in science, i won't judge you. if it works for you, go for it - you're not hurting any rhinos as far as i can see.
