As mentioned on another topic, we've been having wind for the past month, the local pryde team is enjoying it :
That first video makes me wonder why there are people in the world who don't windsurf................
Magic
How close do they let you sail to the runways
I mean if they're landing/taking off, and your at the end of the runway you could get some pretty big winds off there
awesome footage. That water is fantastic! Moby, not sure if you can call water in botany blue, maybe grey, but at least it means you cant see the bull sharks
You should all be considering a trip to New Cal !!! Your currency is so bloody strong at the moment !!!!
I'm going to the gold coast in january and can't believe how much it's costing me !!
Ps : language isn't an obstacle, we all speak english here
Sitting here on a grey rainy windless morning in Sydney I dont think you can beat that, superb!!!
great footage!!
Looks a great place to sail and visit, was considering Hawaii but this is closer and cheaper.
Good to see the Pryde boys enjoying their Starboards too.
The owner of the pryde/starboard/severne/etc... shop is also into photography :

Some really nice pics, mind you he's got material at the moment !!!
Brilliant Vid, wow that place is amazing. There hasn't really been any good slalom vids until now. That vid reminded me what it was like when i went to Fiji and the Whitsundays.
Actually Qldnacra, the first part of the video is shot near Goeland island tiny reserve island just outside Nouméa, the capital.
Second part (with the boats and huts) is even closer to Nouméa, it's called Escapade island, it's a resort just 8 minutes sailing from the main beach.
Been to that place you mention in Vanuatu, it's called Irririki.
^^^ Thanks for that info. Went to Noumea as well on the cruise. The side where the boat docks is a **** hole but over the other side, i think it was called Lemon Bay or something, was very nice. I swam out to that little pontoon just out from the restaurant that is in one of your photo's. Is that the side where you would launch from to sail to those places where the video is shot and if it's too far to sail is there boats that go across. Also do you know if it's expensive to fly gear to Noumea from OZ
Lemon bay is the wind protected bay, that's were all the chicks go and sunbath. next beach down the road is "anse vata" which is the windsurfing spot.(avatar)
As you can see on the picture you can sail directly to the island, you just need the correct tide to get in the flat spot !!
No idea about the extra price for flying gear to new cal, I, personally, wouldn't bother, just rent the appropriate gear on the spot, they'll even carry it to the water for you....
So obviously you need a high tide so the reef is covered, correct? What is the best time of year and what sort of wind strength are we talking about. Roughly scaling it from the map it looks like about 4 km from Anse Vata is that about right? Lastly do you know if it's expensive to fly gear over with you or is there stuff that's good available over there. Didn't look for anything like that when i was over there because i hadn't started windsurfing then
^^ yes correct, at low tide we just sail between anse vata and "Ile aux canards" nice flat spot to jibe and head back to the beach.
Yes 4 to 5 km would be the distance, between ile au canards and the spot you come across quite large waves which make the crossing a bit more exciting !!
Best time of year is from october to march, 15 to 25 kts on a regular basis.
The anse vata beach has three rental outlets : naish center, aloha (starboard/jp/NP) and sp8ce (loft/rrd)
Gear going from beginners to free ride, Sp8ce would hire you top end gear if they see you can handle it
^^^Thanks for all the info. I'm thinking hard and even the wife is keen. I've got fairly top end gear now and i'm not exactly chugging around and uphauling so i would like to sail on similar quality stuff if i was going to go over there for basically a sailing holiday. I've got wave and bump n jump gear now and that's what i would like to ride not so much slalom gear. I think i will work on getting over there next year.
Thanks again
Darren
No need to head to New Cal, just head up to green island for our winter trades.
Looks very similar to to reef flats we sail on all year, there will even be more good hire gear from Starboard and Severne next season.
