Hi Guys

I know it's not windsurfing but I think we can all identify with how much this would hurt. It was taken during the final race of the 18' skiff worlds this weekend on Sydney harbour.

Ouch.

They showed it on Channel 7 news last night. they were trucking along and all of a sudden they hit a reef and instant stop. Didnt look like they broke much anyway. Gotta hurt.

You want instant stop? Try getting a garbage bag wrapped around your fin wile going full tilt in a 25 knt gust.

Happened to me last weekend, and I was totally bewildered. Felt like I'd hit a brick wall.

Yeah, that's how to stop real quick.

They snapped their board and took a big shark bite out of the bit that was left. The thing that you didn't see was that while they were being towed off, Club marine sailed around the tow boat and hit the same reef while going back upwind.

They do look like a lot of fun though , i reackon they would be the next best thing to windsurfing, if you could afford it.

sometimes referred to as '...going thru the cheese grater'
lots of stays and shrouds up that end of the boat!
