Here is a little bit of the 2012 Lord Howe trip. In the end I didn't do as much filming as I expected (to busy sailing and having fun) but the little I have may be worth posting....well only just....I think I had the video camera in my hand for less than half an hour. Realistically I probably wont get any more footage this year....in the end nothing beats being there....edit in 2012 or 2013 or whatever the year is.....damn those record companies and their need to enforce copyright....
The video should gradually come good, images should start to appear shortly. Whatever you do don't let the Al from 2012 meet the Al from 2013. See you in 2013.
I would have really loved to go on the trip this year. I almost decided to. However due to a few reasons it would have been quite irresponsible to do so and I would have regretted it in the future. I'm looking forward to seeing the video.
definitely much funnier letting youtube choose a none copyrighted track than spending hours considering all the albums and tracks in my own collection which I have paid for but cant use on youtube. The new edit should but up in a while.... I can hear the magnetic tape machines spinning at Youtube HQ as they compile the new edit...
thanks for the primer Al. Looks like win d saturday sunday when do you arrive from antarctica.
we are on saturday flight, i hope Tas has the kit dusted off for a quick sesh in the arv

forecast today 25 to 30 Thursday 25 to 30 kts Friday 20 to 25 kts Saturday 15 to 25 kts
That's a solid bit of wind there Will. Hopefully you will get a sail there on Saturday.
We arrive on Tuesday. It will be great to be back on the lagoon blasting around with everyone.
Shaping up like another 2008 Al. Were you there in 2008 Al? My memory is fading. I remember it was so windy in 2008 we could only sail the lulls. We'd see the squalls coming in from the South West, race them to shore and hold that old colorbond boatshed down from the inside.
Yes lets hope its all w to wsw, and the roaring forties push the sausage torpedo highs up north, so the isobars are stacked & packed horizontal over the island. It will be a spot X extravaganza, for a ravenous bunch of experienced lagoon hoons and speed demons machin out across the azure diamond studded aqua bahn, with turbo Tim the tango tacker and his trusty lieutenant Tas leading the charge of the lagoon brigade
Tasmania has had incredible winter winds compared to us up here in the sargasso sea, Al you must be really windsurf fit by now, whereas it'll be shock horror chuck em in at the deep end for us crustys.
Yes Ian we got there a month after you in 08 , and it was still blowing dogs off chains.

I think 2009 was our first year, some of our own gear and a stack of demo gear from WSS/JP ....good sailing but tricky getting the gear back to TAS at the end of the holiday. It would be great to see the lagoon really smoking, we had some big storms in 2011 I think but they went through during the night.
vimeo will let you upload your original soundtrack edit.
and their compression is much less harsh than craptube's
Hey Consuma-Bill.. where's the picture from and who's in it ?
You looking to get out through the lagoon for a recce this trip and the possibility of getting into some slabs out back ?

I am convinced you are right about youtube Reflex. If I do manage to do any filming this trip its going on Vimeo.
Was just ramping bs Kev. No that is a self promoting still off a vid suz shot at 3 rd headland a couple years back. Because like you i am usually snapping pix of others.
The logistics of wavesailing outside the reef are tricky but i guess with the right conds and a lot skill in maybe a nw down towards the south passage there might be a chance of wavesailing.
Its just a lot of fun hooning around the lagoon that nobody bothers. If anyone could do it Al would be out there in a flash as he chases and charges waves on his home island.
But hey on another note hows the crew who took a container of toys to lemorne in early July or late june and didnt have big wind but i heard they had fun anyway [^because there were options aplenty for sup , darkside etc

Too much information Windanza. I'm waiting. Is there a second verse to that Sausage Torpedo limerick?
If its TMI , Ian why ask for more drivel. That was just a compulsive spasm of verbose diarrhoea. But you know i had thought of including a little ditty about a feller called fishbread Pete and his trusty scientific friend in intrepidoteous adventeering across the mountain and through the impenetrable jungle in search of gold . And the other members of the band of pandanus pirates including one fox amongst the hounds and a blue dog conducting smoking ceremonies disguised as barbeques cooking up burnt offerings for sacrifices to the wind gods etc etc but i better not or that true wordsmith aka Barn, who you well know, might buy in for an attack of bilious banter and blow the whole story off the island altogether thence impaling the feeble remains of the socalled limerick on the spear of balls pyramid zzzzzzzzzzzzttt & pop!

The 2nd pic was more 2011 when I was there with you ( great for me but not so much everyone who wanted 30kts)
I've packed the gear for team cook today. Trying to get my head around the concept if wearing a t-shirt and shorts for two weeks. We have been having some fairly chilly and windy sails in Tassie lately. This is a recent picture if Al
Awesome shot Gil!
Look forward to seeing you sunlovers.
Likewise Tim, the new theme our the trip is (to quote the brilliant musings of the Windanza) "lagoon hoons and speed demons machin out across the azure diamond studded aqua bahn"
Had a creative weekend recently and have printed everyone a custom L.H.I windsurfing tshirt to wear on this last trip.
Well done Gil, I won't have to pack one. You don't have beanies do you? Looks like the AGM, someone has stepped out of line. Bluedog! Every expedition needs a geologist. Here's a photo. Despite the brave smile we were both lost. We were going for the Mt Gower base camp but were actually at d. A talus slope on the flanks of Mt Lidgbird. www.lhimuseum.com/scientific_interest/1_aust_geographic_2004.pdf . Where's Bluedog when you need him?
